A 1955 Land Rover Series I 86" SWB canvas tilt, registration number VYB 268, Bronze green. The iconic off roader was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show with production starting in 1948. Initially in 80" format with the 1600cc petrol engine and gearbox from the Rover P3. From 1952 the 2L engine became standard and the wheelbase became longer at 86" from 1954, with a longer wheelbase version of 106" coming on line at the same time. This 86" Series I tilt carries a Somerset registration and has seen recent expenditure on a new canvas tilt and Exmoor seats. ***V5C received and states three previous keepers***, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
A 1962 Land Rover Series IIA 88" canvas tilt, registration number JJK 496J, chassis number 24103268A, Bronze green. Series IIA production started in 1961 and a short wheel base example found fame in the film Born Free alongside Elsa the lion. As previous models the Series II was available in both short wheel base and long wheel base forms. This 88" canvas tilt was released from military service and registered on 1st July 1971. There were two previous registered keepers before the current registered owner purchased the Land Rover in 1996. In the last three years considerable expenditure has been lavished upon it. The Land Rovery was entrusted to an East Midlands specialist who started the restoration fitting a new galvanised chassis, rebuilding the engine to unleaded specification, fitting new doors, renewing the drivetrain and running gear and painting the body in traditional Bronze green. The Land Rover was then sent to Marksdanes who fitted a new canvas tilt, refurbished the wheels, fitted a new radiator, wiring loom, refitted the dashboard, and completed the car for MOT. The accompanying history file contains the purchase invoice in 1996 for £2500, copy receipts from Craddocks for approximately £2000, a receipt from Marksdanes for £9500, previous MOTs and sundry paperwork. Unfortunately receipts for the previous part of the restoration are not available. Now freshly MOT'd this smartly presented example is ready to be enjoyed by the next custodian. V5, V5C, MOT to July 2018 See illustrations
EXTRA LOT: A 1968 Daimler V8 250 saloon, registration number WFM 704F, chassis number P1K3214BW, engine number 7K3293, bronze. WFM 704F has recently been part of a museum collection, prior to this the Daimler was in the custodianship of a motor engineer and Daimler & Lanchester Owners Club member. The first and only other recorded keeper was also a Daimler & Lanchester club member who retained the car for a not inconsiderable 47 years. The vendor advises us that the Daimler has been well maintained with repairs and maintenance being carried as necessary including a top engine overhaul with new valves and seals, a reconditioned water pump and cooling fan and brake overhaul with new discs and pads. The paint work and body work were the subject of a respray approximately ten years ago. The interior is in original condition with red leather and matching carpets. The Daimler will be offered for auction with a history file containing a run of MOTs and receipts for works carried out. V5C, MOT to August 2017 See illustration
