Auf ormoluverzierten Blattwerkfüßen, die konisch auslaufen, ein dreitüriger Korpus mit risalitartig hervorspringendem Zentrum und Einlegeböden als Inneneinrichtung. Die Türen mit geometrischen Kartuschen und in den Zwickeln liegenden Ormolu-Rosetten. Mittlere Kartusche mit reich ziseliertem Ormolu-Dekor mit Louis XVI-Schleife und reliefierten Vögeln und Instrumenten, die flankierenden Kartuschen scheinbar von der Mitteltür überlagert. Deckplatte den Zügen des Möbels folgend in „Brocatelle d'Espagne“-Marmor. Ein Schlüssel vorhanden.Anmerkung: Die Firma Krieger begann mit Antoine Krieger (1804-1869) in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts die Möbeltischlerei, bevor sie eine wichtige Abteilung für Innendekoration einrichtete, die dem Unternehmen bis etwa 1945 viel Erfolg und Prestige bescherte. DUNDAS 1846 PATTERN SHELL GUN OF 95CWT, MADE AT THE ROYAL GUN FACTORY, WOOLWICH, NO.4, DATED 1863; with heavy bronze barreL formed in five moulded stages and swelling towards the muzzle, the first reinforce stamped with Government ownership broad arrow, the weight ~2.3.2~ and the year of manufacture, raised vent field (plugged, probably in the workshops at the end of its working life), rounded cascable with ring-shaped button, and a pair of plain trunnions stamped R.G.F. for Royal Gun Factory and engraved with horizontal axis bisected and stamped ~No. 4.~: on its bronze-mounted mahogany sliding stepped carriage with small bronze trucks and elevating device, on its bronze-mounted dwarf traversing platform, the underside stamped W.D. Dundas design of 1846. Colonel W. B. Dundas was Inspector of Artillery and of the Royal Brass Foundry 1839-52. AN EBONISED BRONZE ATHENIENNEIN THE MANNER OF CHIURAZZI, LAST QUARTER 19TH CENTURY96cm high, the top 64cm diameterThis design is based on an original Roman example found at Pompeii, now in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples. Copies were popular in the 19th century. The foundry Chiurazzi & Fils was established around 1870 by the sculptor J Chiurazzi. A similar model to this appears as number 150 in the 1900 catalogue and is described as a Trepied Isiaque.
AFTER JOSEPH NOLLEKENS (1737-1825), A MARBLE GROUP 'CHILD BEING CARRIED BY A DOLPHIN' LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY Carved marble after the original model by Bartolomeo Cavaceppiapproximately 51cm high, 62cm wideProvenance:Formerly in Dodington ParkThe Hermitage museum holds in its collections what was probably the principle inspiration for this group- a large work in marble catalogued in 1768 as a work by Rafaello executed by Lorenzetti and 'restored' by Bartolomeo Cavaceppi. However, smaller versions by Joseph Nollekens, who had access to Cavaceppi's studio in Rome, were already recorded from as early as 1764 when a version was purchased by Lord Palmerston for Broadlands. Seymour Howard records other versions of these groups by Nollekens and his workshop: one for the 9th Earl of Exeter at Burghley, one at Althorp, another for the Earl Bishop, the fourth earl of Bristol and now at Ickworth and a fourth in terracotta for David Garrick. A NEAR SET OF FOUR LOUIS XV ORMOLU THREE BRANCH WALL LIGHTS IN THE MANNER OF JEAN-CLAUDE DUPLESSIS, MID 18TH CENTURY The bras de lumière of three branch form with foliate scrolling stems and nozzles, fitted for electricity slight size variance but approximately-the gilt metal 65cm high, 43cm wide, 88cm high overall Provenance:An Important Collection from a Cadogan Square HousePerrin Antiquaires, Paris, acquired in 1998. A pair of very similar design, with richer detailing to the edge furls and with the 'C' couronné poinçon, is in the Wrightsman Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (1971.206.30-31). As well as being the Royal goldsmith, Duplessis was director of the Vincennes porcelain factory and later Sèvres. Among his most famous designs for gilt bronze are the elaborate and rich mounts for the Bureau du Roi in Versailles by Oeben and Riesener.Literature: Hans Ottomeyer/Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, p. 143, ill.Condition Report: Now wired for electricity.
