L`Homme Assis est une adaptation systématique par l`artiste des principes du cubisme pictural en trois dimensions ; le corps géometrique ascétique aux larges épaules se campe sur le socle, assis sur une jambe, l’autre pendante, il semble prêt à se relever et créer dans cet élan le mouvement. Sur son visage, nulle expression, mais les signes en creux et l`œil au milieu du visage sur un nez rebattu résument avec une économie de moyen sans égal l’homme a cette géométrie succinte savamment ordonnée autour de ce buste dont l`âme tout entiere est condensée dans cette sage économie des formes. Ce bronze serait la seconde épreuve de cette composition conçue par Zadkine vers 1919-1920 et répertoriée au Musée Zadkine.
