Emmanuel Villanis (Lille 1858 - 1914 Paris) "Cendrillon" An Art Nouveau Bronze Pedestal Bust, circa 1905, modelled as a young woman wearing a head scarf and gazing downwards to sinister, upon a castellated shaped square base with title in relief, decorated in a three-colour patina, signed (on the shoulder), foundry stamp Vrai Bronze Garanti Paris, 62cm high Cendrillon is a chamber comic opera by Pauline Viardot, and is based on the story of Cinderella. The work has a cast of seven with piano orchestration, and was first premiered in Viardot`s Paris salon on 23 April 1904. Marie (Cendrillon) is the servant in the house of her father, who is a low noble in an alterative reality of France where Royalty still existed in 1904.

Robert-Houdin (Jean-Eugène) A fine mystery clock the thin glass dial with single hour hand and metal rim above the tiered bronze casing with gilt decoration, on gilt wooden plinth, the dial lettered "Robert-Houdin Paris", 420mm. high ***There is no visible mechanism to turn the hand, yet the clock could keep perfect time. Robert-Houdin was the son of a clock-maker, and is considered to be the founder of modern conjuring, but is also famous for his mystery clocks. It is thought that the first one was invented and constructed in the 1830`s. A number have survived, but examples rarely appear on the market.
Karl Perl (Austrian), an early 19th century bronze figure of a labourer, standing, rolling a cigarette and in contemplative pose, dark brown patination, circa 1910, signed to base. Height 26 ins. NOTE - Karl Perl was a sculptor and medallist, born in Liezen, Austria in 1876. He practiced in Vienna and was a pupil of Hellmer, Zumbusch and Kundmann.
