A (probably) Peruvian metalwares dish, apparently unmarked, tests as silver, of circular form with sloping rim engraved 'LT'. COL W.M. PRYOR, D.S.O. DE SU AMIGO ANTERO ASPILLAGA LIMA AGUSTO 1927', the field with an elaborate repoussé armorial within a beaded border, two applied decorative handles, 22cm diameter over the handles, 368.1g (11.8ozt) Lieutenant Colonel Walter Marlborough Pryor, DSO & Bar, DL, JP (1880 – 1962) of Weston Park, Hitchin, Hertfordshire was a British soldier. He was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. During World War I he served as an officer in the Hertfordshire Regiment and later commanded 1/6th Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He was mentioned in despatches four times and in 1917 was made a companion of the Distinguished Service Order, to which a Bar was added in 1918. He was awarded the Italian Bronze Medal of Military Valour in 1919.After the war, he was chairman of the Sun Fire Insurance Company and the Sun Life Assurance Society and served as a magistrate and Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire. Ántero Aspíllaga Barrera (1849 – 1927) was a Peruvian agricultural businessman and politician. He was Minister of Finance from 1887 to 1889, Mayor of Lima from 1896 to 1897, President of the Senate in 1902-1903 and 1909-1910, twice a candidate for the presidency of the Republic, and President of the National Club (1917-1919).

His important collection was based upon purchases from the Orleans Collection dispersed in 1792 after the French Revolution. The collection was displayed at Rossie Priory and was sold in 1948.Made by Robert, Lord Colvill of Ochiltree.
