A Flemish bronze pricket candlestick, mid 16th century, the pricket and drip pan above a heavily knopped and inverted baluster cast stem, on a triform socle, the spreading triform base with ogee cast sides and three stylised feet, 37cm high. Literature: Cf. John Caspall, Making Fire and Light in the Home pre-1820, Antique Collectors’ Club, 1987, see figure 114, p69 for a closely related example.

David, Pierre Jean (know as David d`Angers) 1788-1856 patinated bronze figure of Ambroise Paré whom was a noted French surgeon to Henry II , Francis II, Charles IX and Henry III signed and dated 1840, the figure standing in contemplation next to a stack of books with instruments on top, 48cm high NOTE: Pierre Jean David born at Angers on March 12th 1788, he died in Paris on January 6th 1856, Angers has approximately 676 statues, statuettes, bust and medallions including his famous Carnets (notebooks), while the Louvre has 478 medallions, 12 maquettes and several busts.
Bergman, Franz (Austrian) (1861-1936) a cold painted bronze figure, circa 1900, modelled as a running male Arab figure, stamped with the Bergman seal and Geschutz No. 2897 (incomplete), 24cm high Note: Franz Xavier Bergman (1861-1936) was a Viennese sculptor who produced numerous cold painted bronze figures, signing either a B in an urn shaped cartouche or Nam-Greb `Bergman` in reverse`
A French Empire mantel clock, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals and decorative gilt-brass hands, the ormolu case with classical Romanesque mounts to the front with the clock movement set to one side within a bronze casing on top of which is surmounted a bust of Napolean with, standing to the side, the figure of a winged Herald holding a plaque declaring ‘Paix d’Europe’, height: 46cm.
