An Austrian cold painted bronze model of an eagle by Bergman, perched on a rock with outspread wings, the underside stamped with the Bergman foundry mark 'B in a vase', early 20th century. Height 34.1cm, width 38cm.Condition report: Good condition, no damage, very slight movement of the eagle when wobbled but it feels quite securely fixed to the base. Would benefit from a clean and a polish.
Chinese bronze censer with aprocryphal six character Ming Xuande mark to the base, on a wooden stand, together with other brass items including Buddha on stand etc. (B.P. 21% + VAT) Dent to side of censer 2 feet detached from stand. Other items used condition but complete. Diameter with handles 24 cm approx. 1.65 kg.
Collection of four bronze and gilt metal Indian figures to include; Ganesh, bronze Buddha etc. (4) (B.P. 21% + VAT)Wear and tear but no obvious damage apart from missing tip on second largest figures. A Bronze Age circa 1500-1000 BC votive bronze male fertility figure, Luristan or Cananite influence possibly of Baal, with elongated body, short legs and arms, the head with deeply socketed eyes and slit mouth, with button shaped ears, the figure naked but ornamented with neck torc, wrist armlet and waist band, 9.5 x 3cm. £100-£120 --- From a UK collection.
A Byzantine 12th century bronze reliquary cross pendant, formed in two halves with hinged suspension loop and hinged base (still functioning), the front decorated with the figure of Christ on the cross, the reverse a standing figure of Virgin Mary, nimbate with heads of Saints in the three corners, 10.5 x 4.7cm. £260-£300 --- Reliquary cross pendants are referred to as encolpion and were worn on a chain suspended around the neck by Bishops and held holy relics inside.
A selection of Anglo Saxon to Medieval bronze artefacts, including three 9th century strap ends, four 14th century buckles and a 14th century gilded harness pendant with floral design and traces of blue enamel, complete with swivel mount, together with further strap end, pins and a dagger chape.
