An impressive sculptural French Louis XVI style clock, signed Leautier, Paris to the white enamel dial, beside it sits a naked bronze child holding an open birdcage, the ormolu clock case with ribbon and laurel framing beneath crossed flaming torch and quiver, the base in ormolu and pink marble, maximum height 53cm, width 50cm. A pair of bronze campana form vases with twin grotesque mask handles, height 22cm, together with a pair of Art Nouveau bronze twin handled slender necked vases, the handles formed as two dragonfly, traces of silvering, height 21.5cm. Condition Report: Three vases have signs of soldering and repairs. One dragonfly vase in good condition.
A Chinese bronze censor with fo dog finial, the sides with eight daoist symbols raised on triple scroll feet, height 25cm and a smaller censor with seated Quan Yin finial, the handles mounted as two child acolytes and raised on triple feet, height 15cm. Condition Report: Smaller censor has a cast four character seal mark. Wear to the patina. Both have minor surface scratches and dents.
Cased set of three gold silver and bronze prize medals : an 18ct gold medal for excellence in milling technology, 1909, diameter 38mm, 30.1g; unmarked silver City & Guilds first prize in milling, 1909, 50mm; bronze City & Guilds second prize in milling, 1906, 50mm, awarded to Robert Christie Winter, together with three small silver milling medals, 1907 - 9.
Joseph Paul Mesle (French, 1855-1929), French village at dusk, signed, oil on canvas, 37 x 45cm.; 14.75 x 17.75in. * Mesle studied under Leon Bonnat. He made his debut at the 1880 Salon. From 1885, he was a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais in Paris. He was awarded an honourable mention in 1884; a third-class medal in 1886; a bronze medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris; and a silver medal in 1900.
