By John Walker, an Arts and Crafts silver two-handled quaich, Birmingham 1925, circular form, spot-hammered decoration, the side handles pierced with scroll decoration and two stone cabochons, on a circular foot, length handle to handle 15.5cm, approx. weight 4.2oz. Provenance: A Private Collection. John Walker (1877-1948) was a highly acclaimed designer, sculptor and craftsman in gold, silver and bronze. Educated at the Edinburgh School of Art, Walker was later master at the Sheffield Arts & Crafts Guild from 1927-28 and was appointed designer and supervisor of the Arts Department at Elkington & Co.
