Colonial and Indian Reception, 25th June 1886, bronze medal by Elkington & Co., issued by the Corporation of the City of London, Royal and Colonial shields, TO COMMEMORATE THE COLONIAL & INDIAN RECEPTION AT THE GUILDHALL LONDON 1886, rev., detailed interior view of the Guildhall, City mace to left, City sword to right, 77mm, 193g, with original case of issue (BHM 3214; Eimer 1726). The case distressed, the medal graded by NGC as MS 66 BN, highest grade awarded, none graded higher.NGC Certification 6946218-001Total mintage only 450. In 1886 a Colonial and Indian Exhibition was held in South Kensington which celebrated culture, arts and manufacture from numerous countries throughout the British Empire, reportedly attracting over five million visitors. India was particularly well-represented and one centrepiece, the Jaipur Gate, can in fact still be seen today in the grounds of Hove Museum. In the run up to the event, the Court of Common Council, the City of London?s primary decision-making body, formed a committee to consider ways in which the City could best mark the occasion stating that, ?In view of the approaching visit of our Colonial and Indian brethren to this country, it is expedient that this Corporation do recognise the occasion, and that a special Ward committee be appointed to consider and report as to the best manner of doing this, thereby cementing the bond of union between this country and her Colonies and her Indian Empire". In response, services were held at St Paul?s Cathedral and a grand ball and reception were held at the Guildhall with some 4,500 invitations issued. The present medal was commissioned by The Corporation to commemorate that reception.

Total weight 1.360kg. (6)Urho Kaleva Kekkonen was a Finnish politician who served as the Prime Minister of Finland between 1950 and 1953, and again from 1954 to 1956. He later became the President of Finland in 1956 and served in that position for five terms until 1981, making him the longest-serving president in Finnish history. Kekkonen has been praised for his foreign policy, particularly in maintaining good relations with the Soviet Union while also strengthening Finland's ties with the West. He was a strong advocate for Finnish neutrality and worked to maintain Finland's independence and sovereignty. Kauko Rasanen (1926-2015), was a prominent Finnish sculptor and medallist. He was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Finnish Sculptor Association, which was designed by Rasanen himself, and won the coveted Saltus Award in 1987 from the American Numismatic Society.

Von 1946 bis 1949 besuchte er die Fachschulklasse für Gold- und Silberschmiede, Gürtler und Ziseleure an der Bundeslehranstalt für das Baufach und Kunstgewerbe in Graz. Dort war er ein Schüler von Georg Sieder, Alfred Wickenburg und Rudolf Szyszkowitz. Danach studierte er von 1949 bis 1954 an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, wo er die Meisterschule Bildhauerei bei Fritz Wotruba absolvierte. Nach dem Studium bereiste er Italien, Griechenland und Frankreich. Inspiriert von der Natur schuf Kedl vollplastische und reliefartige Kupfertreibarbeiten sowie Klein- und Großskulpturen aus Bronze oder Stein, insbesondere Bernsteiner Serpentin. Ab den Fünfzigerjahren entstanden schlanke säulenartige Plastiken, ab den Sechzigerjahren auch kompakte Figuren. 1954 hatte Kedl zusammen mit Karl Prantl und Feri Zotter eine viel beachtete Ausstellung in der Orangerie des Schlosses Esterházy in Eisenstadt. Er und Prantl arbeiteten von 1955 bis 1957 in einem Atelier der Orangerie. 1956 gründeten Kedl, Prantl und Rudolf Klaudus die „Künstlergruppe Burgenland“. 1958 bezog Kedl ein Atelier in Wien-Meidling. 1967, im Jahr der Geburt ihres Sohnes, des späteren Bildhauers Talos Kedl, 1967 kauften Rudolf Kedl und seine Frau, die Malerin Christine Elefant-Kedl, ein Grundstück in Markt Neuhodis. Vier Jahre später bezogen sie dort 1971 ein Wohnhaus. Der Park diente kulturellen Veranstaltungen, als Aquarell-Galerie für Christine Elefant-Kedl und als Skulpturenpark für Talos und Rudolf Kedl. 1966 und 1976 vertrat Kedl Österreich bei der Biennale di Venezia. Ab 1966 war er Mitglied der Freimaurerloge „Libertas Gemina“, 1970 Gründungsmitglied der Loge "Libertas Oriens" und Ehrenmitglied der Loge „Die Brücke". 1979 gehörte er zu den Mitbegründern der Burgenländischen Kulturoffensive; bis 1985 war er deren Präsident.1986 bis zu seinem Tod 1991 lehrte Kedl als Professor für plastische Gestaltung an der Technischen Universität Graz. Jahrhunderts. Nach einer Lehre als Gürtler und Ziseleur begann er 1943 ein Studium an der Münchner Kunstakademie. 1946 bis 1953 studierte er in Wien Bildhauerei an der Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst bei Fritz Wotruba. 1953 -1969 schuf Heidel zahlreiche Plastiken für die Stadt Wien (Wiener Gemeindebauten). Heidel schuf anfänglich naturalistische, formal vereinfachte Plastiken (v. a. Tiermotive) und stieß im Laufe seines Schaffens in Auseinandersetzung mit verschiedensten Materialien wie etwa Kunststein, Metall oder Ziegel immer weiter in Bereiche der Abstraktion und der gegenstandslosen Plastik vor. Ab 1975 war Heidel als Restaurator am Kunsthistorischen Museum Wien tätig.
