▲ John Cox (1952-2014) Mice and Cheesebronze coat and hat hooks55cm wide8cm deep15cm highCondition ReportBORN:John Cox (1952-2014) Of SuffolkABOUT:John had a life time flirtation with art in many forms, but it was in later years that he undertook sculpture on a commercial basis. His preference was for life study works of people and animals but he deviated to other subjects to satisfy all tastes. Using the foundation of his original designs, his legacy lives on through his wife and daughter, Joy and Jayne, who continue to add to the portfolio of sculptures. As a team they have undertaken a wide range of commissions and the sculpture of the late Lord Montagu, which graces the entrance to the Beaulieu Motor Museum, is attributed to them.
Mick Cawston Pottery Sculpture of Badgers. This was made in Fathings studio on Exmoor and is thought to be Mick's first ever sculpture; it was certainly the first one he did after his move to Devon and we are not aware of a previous one. Size: 3" (8cms) High, Base: 6"x 3" (15 x 8cms). Its condition is not bad, the paint has worn off in many places but there is no substantial damage to the pottery itself that we can see. It is loose on its base. Very much a collector's piece and a little bit of history! Sold as seen. As with the bronze sculptures we will not ship these, they are collection only.
Mick Cawston cold cast Bronze Sculpture 'The Campfire', one of the much sought after anthropomorphic bronze resin sculptures produced as a collaboration between Mick and Brian Andrew and then cast by Fathings of Exmoor. We were sadly not involved with this process and as such our knowledge of them is limited. However we are regularly asked about them! This one appears to be in excellent albeit the handle on the kettle is missing, otherwise mint condition and carries the markings 1/500 BA MC on his tailcoat. There is some colouring applied too which does not show well on the photos. Just to be clear this is copy number 1. Stands 6.5" (16.5cms) high and it's base is 9.5"x 6" (24 x 15cms) at it's widest. IMPORTANT Please note: these bronzes are collection only. We will not ship them.
