(5)Major William Robert Edward Heneage Finch O.B.E. 1868-1949.London Gazette, October 1889.William Robert Edward Heneage Finch, Gent, late Lieutenant, 4th Battalion, the Royal Irish Regiment, to be Lieutenant. Dated 19th October, 1889.Finch fought in the Boer War between 1900-01 and gained the rank of Major in the service of the 3rd Battalion Manchester Regiment. During The Great War he was mentioned in dispatches 3 times and was Invested as an Officer Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in King George V Birthday Honours of 1919.He lived at Tullamore Park, County Tipperary, Ireland and held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Tipperary.

He died on 15th Nov 1918 in Mile End Military Hospital, Colchester and was buried on 26th Nov 1918 in Lavenham cemetery. To be sold with research.

Queen Victoria 1897 Diamond Jubilee Medal, being a bronze grade example housed in its original red leatherette box of issue with gilt tooled Imperial crown to the lid with 1837-1897 underneath. A bronze figural bust of a Roman Emperor, chocolate patinated, unsigned in the Barbedienne style CONDITION REPORTS There has been a section replaced to the back right hand corner base. General wear and tear to include surface scratches especially to the sides. Pitting and firing fault. See images for more details. Approx. 26cm high
