A collection of six medallions presented for Special Distinction, the Kings Trophy Competition, comprising two bronze and four silver coloured (two with pin mount), each depicting an archer in light relief, together with a silver medal for Guildford Rose Society, two badges, and three ancient coins
A 19th century French bronze figural mantle clock, with two train movement marked to the rear Gasche, the dial with Roman numerals the base black slate and metal mounted. Height 59 cm, width 48 cm, depth 19 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement does wind on both trains. The movement strikes when advanced. It appears to be ticking away when the crutch is activated without the pendulum in place. The crutch is a little misshapen and will require some adjustment. The bell is present. The rear door is detached at the hinge. The bronze itself is in generally very good order with no significant issues. The gilding to the base is rubbed in places. The plinth beneath which is black slate has some edge nibbles but no major condition issues. We do not have a winding key but we could easily supply one if necessary.
A Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze Buddhist prayer statuette of Tara, with original undisturbed base plate. 33 cm high (18th/19th century). CONDITION REPORT: The statuette is in generally good condition. We can see no evidence of any damage, no repairs and no restoration. There is some discolouration and tarnishing in places particularly around the shoulders and headdress. There is some rubbing to the original gilding particularly on the knees and around the proud sections of the base. Generally the condition is however good.
A pair of antique gilt bronze chenets, figural with rococo type scrolls. Height 31 cm, length 61 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The rear bracket supports are modern. The front sections are in our opinion good quality and nicely cast. The boy figure is a little loose. He has lost much of the original gilding. The nail in the front facing right hand is later replacement. We are not sure what will have been in his hand. The right hand winged rear scroll has a loss which should be visible on our image. Much of the original finish to all the scroll work is now gone. The female figure has rather mor of the original gilding present. There is a loss to the bottom edge of the left rear pierced scroll and also a drill hole which is non original. The metalwork is also all very tarnished in a similar fashion to the other side.
A pair of Regency bronze crane form candelabra, two branch with faceted drops. Height 46 cm, width 30 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Each sconce should have eleven faceted drops. There is one missing. The faceted drops have some end nibbles and some with more substantial end losses. One top sconce has been badly broken and glued back together. Another is cracked. The other two are in good order. The drip trays are all in good order. The metal supports and cranes are also in good condition with no significant scratches, losses or damage. Clearly they are somewhat tarnished. The top candle sconces should be threaded. Two are not. One of these is an undamaged sconce but is missing the bottom threaded section. The other is one that is damaged and has already been mentioned.
A fine William IV rosewood cased mantle clock by Viner, 235 Regents Street London, the foliate engraved gilt brass dial with Roman numerals to the fusee movement striking on two gongs, contained in case with gilt bronze folding bale handle, strike silent lever and bevelled glass panels. 24 cm high, with winding handle and case keys for same (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on the going train and is currently ticking away. It is fully wound on the strike train and is not striking when manually advanced. The carrying handle is dirty and tarnished and has lost +/- 50% of the original lacquered finish. The face is in good order with only very minor rubbing to the black in the numerals. The glass panels are all in good order. The case is in generally good condition. The top, front and righthand side are in very good order with no significant issues. The lefthand side polish is a little dry in places and there are nibbles and an old repair around the left hand door lock. We have the key, the lock operates. The rear door has a timber loss running from the top lefthand corner three quarters of the way down the door itself from 3 mm down to 0. This is a veneer loss. The rear door lock is present and operates. The side rail into which the lock keeper sits has also had a repair. The short feet are clearly later replacements, we would imagine that this would originally have had brass ball feet. In our opinion the escapement is original and the spring flat. It is a flat rectangular dial, however the diameter of the circular section is 88 mm. We have winding key and the front and rear door keys but they are all different styles and although old we cannot say whether they are original to the locks.
AN ART DECO COLD PAINTED BRONZE FIGURE, cast as a jester wearing red motley with a lute slung over his shoulders, with carved ivory face and hands, unsigned, fixed to a stepped circular base, figure 6 1/2" high, 8 1/2" high overall (Illustrated) (Est. plus 21% premium inc. VAT)One finger to left hand missing and hand has some cracks, right hand good, face good, some glue(?) showing around the edge, some wear to colour especially both red shoes, bottom of tunic and legs, wire "strings" of lute quite bent but appear original, not straight on base (leaning forward), two small chips to base
