France, The Four Sergeants of La Rochelle, 1844, Bronze Uniface Cast of a Medal ‘Obverse’ (96mm/90gm) by David D’Angers. Central fasces with Phrygian cap, facing paired busts of the four sergeants either side, below, inscribed biographical information (name, age, etc.) (Reinis 435; cf. Chesneau 346, a "Grand Médallion", 46cm diam; Bergot 159). Extremely Fine.The two sides of the medal were made separately, the 'reverse' showing Liberty [Marianne] wearing a Phrygian cap and placing wreaths on an executioner's block. The soldiers, Sergeant Major Jean François Louis Leclere Bories (aged 27), Sergeant Charles Paul Goubin (aged 25), Sergeant Major Jean Joseph Pommier (aged 26) and Sergeant Martin Charles Bonaventure Raoulx (aged 22), were condemned to death in 1822 for conspiring against the Restoration government of Louis XVIII and the Bourbon monarchy. The medal was issued by David as une dette sacré to commemorate martyrs to the cause of liberty.

Venus after the bath, probably late 19th or early 20th century, bronze sculpture, a later casting (probably late 19th century), unsigned, mounted on a circular black slate base, overall height 45 cm high QTY: (1)NOTE:Allegrain's Venus is likely to have been made as a pendant to the sculptor's Hope Venus.
* After Étienne Maurice Falconet, 1716-1791). La Baigneuse, probably late 19th or early 20th century, bronze sculpture, a later casting (probably 19th century) modelled as a nude female bather, signed 'Falconet', mounted on a circular black slate base, overall height 47.5 cm QTY: (1)NOTE:The prototype of the The Bather or Baigneuse was executed by Etienne-Maurice Falconet around 1750 and first exhibited in the Salon of 1757 described as 'Nymphe qui descend du bain'. It was subsequently documented in 1824 in the Grand Trianon at Versailles, and finally moved to Louvre around 1855 where it remains today (inv. M.R. 1846). Its success led to reproductions throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, as seen with the present example.
A bronze Art Nouveau bust of Liberte Marianne, the bust mounted on a square plinth. Bears signature to the side of the base, and foundry mark to the reverse 'Susse Fres'. 22cms high. *CR Some age related wear as you would expect, some black marks in places to the reverse and around the base.
A mixed lot including a small jade plaque on a wooden stand (7.5cms by 3cms), a pair of Chinese famiile verte buddhist lion seals (5.5cms high), Japanese signed carved wooden fish (11cms long, tail chipped), a carved soapstone group of a fisherman with a large fish and on a carved wooden stand, jade and soapstone animals including a horse, and other items. Qing Dynasty,17th or 18thc, an unusual large ovoid shaped bronze vase with applied lion masks to the body, with incised and applied decoration including Dragon masks, floral decoration and other repeating motifs. With incised character marks to the base, 31cms high. *CR The vase has been well polished over the years, small dents around the rim, various marks and small dinks to the body in places.
A mixed lot including a tortoiseshell and lacquer comb and hair implement set, in a small wooden box, also with a Japanese bronze tsuba (now converted into a lamp or desk weight), a small bronze figure of a bird and other items. *CR Comb, missing one tooth, lacquer items with a few minor scratches. A cold painted model of a crouching Pug Dog, the figure mounted on a wooden base, stamped underneath 'Geschutz', wooden base 12cms long, 9cms high. Also with a reproduction bronze Pug (stamped for Bergmann but more modern copy, 8cms high), a carved wooden inkwell in the form of a Pug with a metal liner (7.5cms high), and an interesting 19thc papier mache Pug with velvet collar (22.5cms high, 26cms long). (4). *CR Bronze pug on stand, generally seems fine - wooden stand has a chip to one corner. Bergman copy, good Inkwell, wear/small grazes to the ears, liner is a little dented and discoloured in places Papier Mache Pug, some wear in places.
A pair of Egyptian Revival bronze candlesticks, 19th century, each column modelled as a winged sphinx supporting a sconce, raised on a stepped circular rouge marble base, 15cm high (2) CONDITION REPORT:Both pieces show chips to the base (one more than the other). Both also show rubbing to the gilt finish and tarnishing throughout. One leans forward slightly relative to the other, with the sconce leaning slightly to the right, and shows a dent to the dript tray and further dents to the sconce.
A large Chinese polished bronze bronze censer, cover and stand, 19th/20th century, the rectangular body flanked with taotie masks and supported by four mask cast legs, the reticulated cover mounted with a Dog of Fo, all supported on a plinth base with archaic reticulation, with detachable lug handles, seal mark to the underside, 41cm highCondition report; One leg with fracture at join to the body. Lug handles detach. Finial detaches. Section of an inset repair to the top surface of the cover, similarly to a corner of the base. Verdigris to the rear of the dog shaped finial. General blemishes and scratching can be seen.

A French patinated bronze bust modelled as William Shakespeare, 19th century, foundry mark for Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) verso, set to a slate plinth with ogee base, 42cm high overall CONDITION REPORT:The bust is loose on the plinth. One side of the plinth shows a build up of dirt. The corners and right hand side of the ogees base show chipped losses, with further small losses and nibbles to other edges.
A Chinese bronze figure of Wenchang Wang, possibly Ming Dynasty, modelled standing, evidence of parcel gilt and red lacquer highlights, 20cm high, accompanied by a later bronze figure of a Buddhist Immortal, 19cm high (2) (at fault)Wenchang- Extensive wear to the gilt with only small remanence of this still visible. Small denting, surface scratches and blemishes visible throughout. Figure appears rather worn and particularly crude. Loss to the reverse of the base. Other figure- Holing to the figure can be seen including to the right shoulder and back of head. General wear throughout.
A pair of Egyptian revival patinated bronze, polished slate and rouge marble candle sconces, late 19th century, each modelled as a seated winged Sphinx on stepped pyramidal base, each 21.5cm high (2) CONDITION REPORT:Both pieces show some looseness to the feet. One show a chip to the front right corner of the square base, and a smaller chip to the back right corner, with some chips and nibbles to the edges. The other shows small chips to all corners of the square base with larger chips to the edges.
