This is a modern abstract sculpture by Julia Hyman, wife of famous pianist Dick Hyman from Venice, Florida. Julia Hyman is a sculptor who works in wood and stone. She began her career in the 1960s. Since that time, she has exhibited in numerous galleries, museums and shows. She has also been a frequent award winner. Hyman's work has been described as both emotional and strong, as well as "a union of asymmetry and balance" and possessing "a flowing, musical quality". Her subject matter is eclectic and is expressed in a variety of forms, from single figures to groups, and in modes ranging from stylized realism to abstract. Ritchie 2nd Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders) with Punjab Frontier 1897-98 clasp (2) Auctioneer's Note: The India Medal reverse was designed by Georges William de Saulles and was issued in silver to officers and men of the British and Indian armies and in bronze to porters and servants. Condition Report: Ribbon on medal awarded to Ritchie may be a replacement. Otherwise both appear in good overall condition. Wear, surface scratches and minor bumps commensurate with age.
