TWO CHINESE BRONZE FIGURES MING DYNASTY One depicting Guanyin seated in dhyanasana, her elaborate crown centred by a seated Buddha, the bronze with traces of gilt, lacquer and cold painting, the other cast as a scholar official seated on rockwork, holding a hu tablet in his right hand whilst his left hand rests upon his knee, with some traces of gilt, 15cm, 695g and 575g. TWO TIBETAN BRONZE FIGURES 20TH CENTURY One depicting Green Tara seated in lalitasana with her hands in varada mudra and vitarka mudra, her jewellery inset with coloured jewels, the other figure cast as a crowned deity and his consort in yab-yum, each with a wood stand, 34.5cm, 3kg and 3.6kg. (4)
A CHINESE LACQUERED BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN 17TH CENTURY Dressed in long robes, she sits on rockwork holding a fruit in her left hand whilst her right hand rests upon her raised knee, wearing a beaded necklace and an elaborate crown decorated with five seated Buddhas, her tranquil face framed by a pair of ornate earrings, 21cm, 1.3kg. Provenance: formerly a French private collection.
A WWI circular cast Bronze Plaque, HMS Lion 1916, unsigned, relief moulded with a roaring lion standing against the rising sun with battle honours behind, HELIGOLAND 1914, DOGGER BANK 1915 and JUTLAND 1916 and with ship’s motto below, 'CONCORDANT NOMINE FACTA' (Our deeds match our name) 18cm diameter. (HMS Lion was flagship for the First Battle Cruiser Squadron, the 'Splendid Cats' and at the Battle of Heligoland Bight she sank the German light cruiser Koln. For Dogger Bank and Jutland, she was Admiral Sir David Beatty’s flagship and was the first ship to open fire at the latter battle, on 31 May 1916.)
