A pair of German 19th century porcelain and gilt bronze mounted ebonised cabinets on standsCirca 1870, each mounted with twenty-eight porcelain plaques of various shapes painted with scenes gallants, courting couples and putti, one cabinet with a pierced porcelain gallery surmounted by nine painted figures (one lacking) dressed in 18th century attire, the other with a porcelain and ebonised baluster gallery surmounted by six similar figures, each with a pair of oval panel mounted doors encompassed by spandrel mounts, the reverse with walnut and tulipwood crossbanded veneers, enclosing one long frieze drawer over eight short drawers interspersed by two Silenus and two Flora painted porcelain term figures, with one set terminating in an ebonised base and the other set on porcelain pedestals, centred by a mirrored recess with a bobbin turned gothic colonnade and chequerboard inlaid floor, above two twin panel mounted short frieze drawers, on stop fluted tapering and baluster turned legs, with a shaped X-stretcher surmounted to the centre by a scantily clad porcelain maiden, some minor variations, 116cm wide x 52cm deep x 165cm high, (45 1/2in wide x 20in deep x 64 1/2in high) (2)This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP

oil on canvas (Dimensions: 118 x 84 cm)(118 x 84 cm)Footnote: The sitter was the eldest daughter of John Skerrett of Ballinduff, and sister of Michael Skerrett (1749-1785), the Archbishop of Tuam. She married Dr Oliver Athy of Galway on 2 October 1741. She was both born and married into one of the fourteen merchant families, known as the Tribes of Galway, who dominated political, commercial and social life of the city of Galway in western Ireland between the mid-13th and late 19th centuries.Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. In the lower half of the painting there are old tears which have been repaired from the reverse with canvas and paper patches. The edges of the canvas are very brittle and are starting to tear. There are undulations across the canvas. There are localised losses to the paint layer but overall it is stable. The varnish is extremely thick, yellowed and no longer adequately saturating the paint layer below. There are several scuffs and scratches in the paint layer. The frame has been repainted with bronze paint which has darkened and the painting is poorly housed within the frame.

an imposing green patinated bronze group of a goat and kid, with 'Grand Prix d'Honneur' plaque, signed, on a wooden plinth base Bronze only, 131 x 78cm approx Plinth only, 92cm highFootnote: Giovita Lombardi was born at Rezzato near Brescia. He studied sculpture there, and then in Milan. His brother Giovanni Battista was already an established sculptor and he followed his brother to Milan and then Rome. They shared a studio and produced high quality busts, funerary monuments and statues. He then began to move away from religious subjects and started to specialise in animal sculpture. This model of a Goat and Kid was exhibited as a marble group at the 1865 International Exhibition in Dublin and also the 1867 Paris Exposition Universelle where Lombardi was awarded the Grand Prix d'Honneur . Two life-size white marble models of this group are known; one is in a private Italian collection, the other is on display at the Sefton Park Palm House in Liverpool.

RMS Mauretania Bronze Nameplate Letter 'M' the letter was originally sold in 1935 at an auction by Hampton & Sons, St James. The Port and Stern nameplates were sold complete but the Starboard letters were sold individually, this 'M' was bought by a Reading Seed Merchant (Mr Martin Sutton) and was subsequently sold by the family to the current vendor 24'', 62cm high sold together with a copy of 'The Cunard Turbine Drive Quadruple Screw Atlantic Liner Mauretania' 1907, a coloured photograph and cuttings relating to the original auction
