A Dolphin Motor-Car Mascot A rare hollow-cast bronze mascot depicting a stylised jumping dolphin in water. No markings, but finely detailed and with a good patina. 8-cms high. Dolphin cars were unusual V-8 two-stroke vehicles designed by Harry Ricardo in about 1907 and manufactured at a factory in Shoreham-by-Sea.
Telcote Pup 'Bonzo' Mascot, depicting the cartoon character by Augustine & Emile Lejeune, a hollow-cast bronze body with diamond-cut red glass eyes, 'Bonzo' stamped on the side, and 'Telcote Pup' impressed in his collar. This mascot of the mid-1920s was inspired by a French Bulldog, a comic book character created by the illustrator George E. Studdy, which he named 'Bonzo'. A French design, English manufacture. The larger of two sizes available in the 1920s, 5½-inches (14cm) long, its threaded mounting stem removed. Also, a later Lejeune standing Mr Toad of 'Wind in the Willows' fame, with Lejeune script on the base, together with a cast aluminium Rover head mascot mounted on a wooden base. (3)
Pierrot and Columbine Motor-Car Mascots Unusual to find as a pair, these well-crafted bronze figurines retain their gilt finish with ivorine (not ivory) head and arms. A popular character in the commedia dell'arte oeuvre, Pierrot is singing and playing his mandolin to Columbine who rejects him in favour of Harlequin, a rare mascot in similar condition, but with a damaged hand. Both mounted on turned mahogany bases, each mascot 14 cms high. (2)
A 'Robert' Mascot A policeman accessory mascot, designed by John Hassall in 1912, with a bronze body and moveable brown porcelain head with painted features, signs of original nickel-plating, dual-threaded mounts and Rd 511941 engraved on the base. 4¼-inches (13cms) high, mounted, signed by the artist This example is in good condition with a tight porcelain but moveable head, Hassall engraved on the front, display-mounted. 13cms high.
A Chinese patinated bronze two handled vase, probably 19th century, deep red brown patination, copper-brown patinated interior to neck, cast with pairs of dragons and flaming pearls, the neck and base with lappets enclosing foliage and the base with scale border, the shoulder with archaic style elephant handles, 14in. (35.5cm.) high, faults to patination. * Both sides of the body have heavily rubbed / polished areas to the patination. The joint between the neck and body is loose and the neck can be lifted away from the body a little. Small dent to footrim and there is a rough area to the casting above this which has a hole through the bronze.
A novelty painted bronze mechanical Butcher's Shop counter bell fashioned as a pig, the heavy cast pig with realistic features, painted pink with black spots, wound from the underside and activated using tail or snout, fully working, 6¾in. (7.2cm.) long, repainted. * Condition: In working condition, some light wear to paint, overall good. Has been repainted.
A French bronze figure of a classical maiden, 19th century, possibly depicting Cleopatra, crisply cast with dark brown patination, in recumbent, contemplative pose with her head resting upon one hand, the other arm upon a ruined capital from a classical column, 17in. (43cm.) long, unsigned, on marble base 20 x 8in. (50.8 x 20.3cm.). * Condition: Good condition with no damage. A little wear to patination to lower front edges of casting.
A Chinese patinated bronze two handled hu vase, probably 18th/19th century, with apocryphal Xuande six character mark to base, red brown patination, the slightly tapered square neck with square rim and two elephant handles, each side with a shaped reserve, two with figures in mountain landscapes, the other two with diaper work, the body with a band of keywork with archaic dragons, the flared foot with key work decoration, 12¼in. (31.2cm.) high. * Good patina overall - interior has general dirt and residue from use as a vase over many years. The base has old (probably early 20th century) putty pushed into the seam between the body and base, presumably in an attempt to seal tiny holes in the past when it was used as a vase and leaked water. There is a small spot of creamy coloured residue on the surface of the bronze in the dragon keywork band, and there is a larger, fainter patch of verdigris to the surface of the bronze on the foot, just above the keywork band - this is very old and there is a small flake from the surface of the metal here. No other damage to bronze.
A pair of French patinated bronze candle holders, late 19th century, modelled as female Grecian water carriers, raised on black slate and bronze pedestals with scroll paw feet, 22¾in. (57.75cm.) high. (2) * One amphora is slightly loose in its socket on the figure's shoulder. Two feet a little loose. Chips to three corners of the top of one plinth. Jules Moigniez (French, 1835-1894), a 19th century silvered and parcel gilt bronze jewellery casket, signed 'J. Moigniez', in the baroque style with twin handles, decorated with a bird and her two chicks, raised on six floral bracket feet, velvet lined interior, 5¾in. (14.6cm.) high, tarnished. * Provenance: The Sladmore Gallery, London, 1968. A similar casket was exhibited by Moigniez at the Great Exhibition in London, 1862. ** Condition: Silvered finish tarnished, a little gilt wear. Otherwise in good condition.
A Chinese bronze censer and cover, of lobed oval form with loop swing handle, the pierced cover depicting figures, pagoda and garden scene, the main with six raised lobed reserves decorated with figures in landscape and Chinese character and script within pomegranate etc., 7 3/8in. (18.8cm.) at widest; together with a bronze spherical pot pourri, with pierced hinged cover and stepped circular foot. (2) * Both pieces appear good, Both pieces appear good with no faults.
A 19th century French gilt bronze rococo revival mantel clock, in the Louis XV style, the twin train movement signed by Raingo Freres and Stevenard, Boulogne, numbered 2347, with outside countwheel striking the hours and half hours on a bell, to a matted gilt dial with enamel Roman numerals, the ornate floral and foliate case with figures of two squabbling boys, on a rococo plinth base with foliate scroll feet, 19½in. (49.5cm.) high. * Condition: Winds and runs. Strikes correctly. Dial and case good with no faults.
A pair of French gilt bronze candlesticks, 19th century, the urn form sconces on slightly tapered columns to baluster urn form mounts, on circular, domed gilt bases decorated with floral strapwork, 11in. (27.9cm.) high plus fittings, later converted to lamps, 14½in. (36.8cm.) high overall, complete with pleated silk shades. (2)
A pair of French patinated bronze and ormolu candlesticks, second half of 19th century, the stiff leaf, lappet and gadrooned urn sconces on tapered columns with gilt acanthus urn mount to gilt foliate and shell triform bases with three paw feet, on concave triform plinths, 11in. (28cm.) high, later converted to lamps, 15in. (38cm.) high overall, complete with ivory swirled pleat silk shades. (2) * Very good condition overall with no faults. Shades VG. They are not wired.
Two antique cold painted bronze figures of foxes, each on naturalistic stone ground, raised on rectangular onyx bases, one with game bird to base, each 5½in. (14cm.) long, the tallest standing 5 3/8in. (13.7cm.) high. (2) * Condition: Unmarked (no signature), tiny nibbles to sharp edges of both bases, otherwise good.

(30.2cm.) high plus fittings, later converted to lamps, 16in. (40.5cm.) high overall, complete with pale grey pleated silk shades. (2) * Very good condition overall with no faults. Shades VG. They are not wired.
Yjosef Lorenzl (1892-1950) - an Art Deco cold painted bronze and ivory figure of a young lady dancing, c.1920, poised on tiptoe with arms aloft, signed to bronze disc "RENZ", raised on tapered cylindrical onyx socle, 9 1/8in. (23.3cm.) high, faults. * Condition: Repair, restoration and strengthening to holding foot, fracture to upper right thigh, fracture/split to right wrist, cracks and fractures to ivory head, loss of paint, piece displays well and pleasing to the eye. ** Please note that this lot is subject to international CITES regulations. Ivory cannot be exported to the USA. It will be the buyer's responsibility to check that their country of residence will permit import with the correct documentation before bidding.
