Margaret Wrightson (1877-1976),a member of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps,, dressed in a coat, a hat and holding a stick, inscribed 'Margaret Wrightson Sc 19',25cm high Margaret Wrightson (1877-1976) studied under William Blake Richardson and Edouard Lanteri at the Royal Academy of Art. She exhibited at the Royal Academy nineteen times between 1905 and 1921. She was involved in the surge in commissions of public memorials after World War One, such as that at Cramlington, Northumberland, from 1922, of St George.A similar bronze entitled ‘Mechanic, Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps’ dating from 1917 was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1919. Another work from 1928 commemorates Charles Lamb, in the Inner Temple in the City of London.
