A fine Japanese twin handled bronze vase by Momose Shigesato (Japanese, 19th Century) Meiji period, signed with a seal mark, the cylindrical body cast in high relief, one panel depicting cranes, the other sparring figures, the handles cast as flowering cherry trees, the square base held by four supports cast as cherry trees, 27½ inches high (70cm) * Two comparable works by Shigesato can be found in the collection of the Walters Art Museum, accession numbers 54.1616 and 54.1617
A pair of 19th Century figural vases stamped HN, champlevé, bronze, and gilt metal, the openwork cup held aloft by a trio of putti, each 6½ inches high (16.5cm), missing original glass liners (2) * Fairly dirty and tarnished. Most of the gilt, particularly to the putti has rubbed away. Knocks and scuffs consummate with age. Patches of white rust to the underside of one example in particular. Collection of silver and silver plated items, from the Far East and Europe. Two large & heavy Chinese silver coloured bars / ingots, bearing clear Chinese makers marks, but appearing to test as silver plated, and a similar white metal pen / brush holder. Three stylized silver figures marked .800 depicting 'hear no evil, speak no evil & see no evil', other small items that may or may not be silver, some costume earrings & 2 oriental bronze miniature Buddhas. Silver bladed pen knife, silver rimmed match striker & small ladies silver cased pocket watch (not working). An unusual lot.
Antoinette Krasnik for K.K. Kunst Erzgiesserei, Wien, a Secessionist bronze letter opener, circa 1905, tapered form, the handle incised with geometric cube motifs, signed Krasnik and stamped marks 1482d, 22.5cm longNote: Croatian born designer Krasnik moved to Vienna in 1898, joining the workshop of Koloman Moser after studying at the Kunstgewerbeschule. Exhibiting at the 1901 London First International Studio Exhibition, much of her work had been attributed to Moser. Working in the Wiener Werkstatte tradition, she continued to design for companies such as Loetz and Bakalowits, before giving up her occupation in 1910.
