Brackley, comprising, Miniature dress awards for Distinguished Service Order, Distinguished Service Cross, 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory Medals with M.I.D. oakleaves, Belgium Order of the Crown, Japanese Order of the Rising Sun, French Croix de Guerre with bronze palme, mounted for wearing in red morocco leather box, with discharge certificate (1.4.1918) bestowal documents for the Distinguished Service Order (8.6.1917), letters from the Air Ministry congratulating Brackley on becoming a member of the Order of the Rising Sun (29.5.1924) and being awarded the Czechoslovak Air Force Pilot's Badge (11.5.1945), with supporting certificate, The Royal Aeronautical Society certificate (29.4.1948), plus a black and white photograph of Brackley wearing his miniatures, a souvenir copper ashtray engraved 'Caudron 8290 4th Wing R.N.A.S. Dec 18th 1915, "Brackley returned to Sheppey and was engaged on tests during wireless experiments. On 17th December flying Twin Caudron 3290 with Sub-Lieut. Rees, R.N.V.R. as passenger, he was on patrol to Detling and Sevenoaks for wireless test. At 1,500 ft there was cloud but he was soon above them: on returning clouds were thicker and after descending 500ft over Sheppey he could not find the aerodrome owing to thick fog. The outcome of this flight was two weeks in hospital for Brackles" (BM p8), Certificate for Wounds and Hurts dated 17.12.1915, Brackley was injured on 17.12.1915 whilst attempting to land an aeroplane in fog, he suffered concussion of the brain, shock and wound of the upper lip, Two original London Gazette papers: D.S.C. London Gazette 12.5.1917 Flt.-Lieut Herbert George Brackley, R.N.A.S.'For conspicuously good work as pilot of a bombing machine. Has carried out twelve raids since the 1st June, 1916, mostly by night. On one occasion he returned with forty holes in his machine.D.S.O. London Gazette 22.6.1917 Flt. Lieut. Herbert George Brackley, D.S.C., R.N.A.S.'In recognition of his services on the morning of 14th April 1917, when he carried out a raid on Bruges Harbour with good results in spite of difficult conditions. Godfrey, The Queen's R.), extremely fine, plus Bronze Death Plaque 'Cecil Godfrey', some scratching to reverse otherwise good very fine with three letters written by the recipient from the trenches (one dated 10th September 1916), a letter to the next of kin from Imperial War Graves Commission dated 21 January 1924 and other documents and correspondence 9978 Private Cecil Godfrey, served during the Great War with 10th Bn The Queens (Royal West Surrey Regiment), killed in action on 16 September 1916, Godfrey is commemorated in the Dartmoor Cemetery, Somme, France.
