A pair of 19th Century French bronze and gilt bronze ornamental ewers in the Classical taste, 39.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Whilst overall condition is good or at least sound, there is wear to the gilding throughout in several areas particularly to the spout and the extremities. See images for detail. Diameter of base 10.5 cm.
AFTER JOSEPH DURHAM "Cricketer", young man catching a ball, chocolate patinated bronze on a circular base bearing signature within the casting, 41 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Has general wear and tear conducive with age and use. There is also a small fault above the bended knee. See images for more details.
AFTER ALESSANDRO VITTORIA (1525-1608) a 17th Century,(possibly later), bronze figure of Jupiter with cluster of thunderbolts in his hand, his right foot upon an eagle raised on a Rosso marble socle base, approx 42 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Has a few patches which may or may not have been from original manufacture but have been there some time due to patination, etc. The heel has some roughness to it. Surface scratches, general wear and tear, some holes which appear to be firing faults, in need of a good clean. See images for more details.Height excluding base approx 32cm
A pair of Chinese Kangxi palette vases of archaic bronze form, the panels decorated with figures in a garden setting and birds amongst blossoming foliage with ribbed oxide red decorated lobed embellishments raised on a rectangular foot flanked by loop handles, 28 and 28.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS One vase has two chips to the outer edge and to the glaze on one handle and otherwise both have wear and tear conducive with age and use to include surface scratches, some minor losses to the enamel, firing faults, etc. See images for more details.
A Japanese Meiji period bronze figural gong, the figure depicted wearing traditional dress with a double gourd bottle at his waist, holding a gnarled staff and with toads crawling up him, holding aloft a beaten bronze gong, dark brown patination, with leather covered beater, fitted hardwood stand, 83cms high overall, the bronze figure 48cms high. This piece is said to have been presented to Sir John Knill, Lord Mayor of London (1909-1910), by the then Chinese Minister to London Li Ching-Fong.
