A bronze Samson and the lion pricket candlestick in 13th century style, with a foliate drip-pan, 24.2cm high, 13.5cm wide. Provenance:Bonhams Knightsbridge, 6th July 2010, Lot 5. CF example in Hamburg Falke and Meyer no. 253 ill. 217. West Country Collection, previously Pitt Rivers Collection and previous to that Czasky Collection sold at auction by Christies London, Lot 56, 11th December 1990. This bronze candlestick refers to a scene from the biblical book of Judges (14:5-7), which tells how Samson killed a lion with his bare hands.

DE DURAS', an 18th century gilt metal oval box, a green painted bronze finial, an 18th century gilt bronze wall sconce, a silver paper knife with a term finial, possibly 16th / 17th century, a Roman terracotta fragment, two ancient copper plaques, a bronze bust of an old man, a silver model of a 13th century style lion, a relief carving of a fertility figure, a Bactrian turquoise bead necklace, a bone fid and a stone pendant. Adrien Etienner Gaudez (French, 1845-1902). A bronze figure of Mozart playing the violin, the plinth signed 'A GAUDEZ', 37.5cm high, together with an Italian bronze figure after the antique of The Venus Callipyge or 'of the beautiful buttocks', the base with a foundry pastille 'CHIURAZZI NAPLES', and a bronze group of the dancing satyr with Bacchus on a marble plinth, indistinctly stamped with foundry mark. A pair of Austrian cold painted bronze Bacchanalian moveable erotic groups by Bergman, of a satyr and a nymph, one offering a bouquet to a maiden and then embracing her, the other of a nymph feeding a satyr grapes, each signed 'NAMGREB', early 20th century, 9.2cm high, 11.5cm wide max.
