6th-2nd century B.C. A matched group of three bronze knife money pieces, each a flat-section rectangular blade with angled ribbed handle and loop finial. 51 grams total, 13.5cm average (5 1/4"). See ATEC 2, 4958-4977. Knife money has its origins in the scraper-knives of nomadic hunters and fishermen of northern and eastern China; by the sixth and fifth centuries BC the northern and eastern states of Yan, Qi, Zhongshan and Zhao were using knife money with inscriptions. The inscriptions were usually numerals or single words such as 'fish' and 'sheep', perhaps indicating value. [3, No Reserve] Fine condition.

A bronze medal certificate from the Royal Humane Society presented for having saved life from drowning, dated 7th October 1913, signed by Admiral Sir George Digby Morant, KCB; glazed wooden frame. 1.3 kg, 45x37cm (17 3/4 x 14 1/2"). Property of a Gloucestershire gentleman; inherited from his grandfather. [No Reserve] Fine condition.

A mixed group of bronze items comprising: a discoid platter with central scene; a rectangular tray with repoussé dragon ornament; a hollow-cast philosopher figure:an advancing dragon; two elephants, hollow to the underside. 2.7 kg, 13-31cm (5 - 12 1/4").
