A Japanese bronze sculpture, Meiji period, modelled as Amida Buddha, after The Great Daibutsu Buddha at Kotokin Temple, Kamakura, the robed figure seated serenely with hands together in his lap and legs crossed, incised two character mark to base and later numbered '290934 0392', 13.5 by 11 by 14.5cm high.
Two modern bronze sculptures of winged putti, cast in the Baroque style, one holding a flaming torch, the other a bow, each standing on a celestial globe divided by a meridian banner with emblems of the Zodiac, the sides with stars, scrolling wave socle, and raised on circular marble pedestal base, each 50cm high. ETRUSCAN ARCHAIC BRONZE KOUROS, First Half of 6th Century B.C., 93mm high Note: This artefact, along with lot 1742 (and those previously offered), was put forward to Falkirk Museums for analysis in the 1980s. Subsequent to this, the collection was put to Judith Swaddling of the British Museum, who composed a short report on the artefacts in 1985. Copies of the relevant correspondence - including an extract of the British Museum report - are pictured here for reference.
