A Pair of Fine Japanese Meiji (1868-1912) Period Bronze Ovoid Vases and Covers, the vases with gilt inlaid key design to lip with rat mask and ring handles, the body with patinated bronze and gold inlay depicting oriental geese and birds to either side. The lids having dragon finials with gold relief to chest and eyes, seated on a cloud open work base and having character marks beneath the lids, supported on tripod base, believed to be signed Nakasugi a bronze smith from the Toyama Prefecture Meiji Era, approx 26 cms. A Fine Japanese Endo/Meiji Period Bronze and Brass Floor Vase, the three sectioned vase having key form design to lip with raised naturalistic handles and blossoming prunus design in relief to the neck, the body of the vase depicting a group of cranes to central cartouche and an eagle challenging a dragon clasping a pearl to the other, stylized ringed handles, the whole resting on a floral lip, the base depicting a dragon resting on rocks in heavy relief, with key form and petal design to base, approx 73 h x 21 d to the top x 33 d.
