A large bronze medal commemorating Handel dated 1905 The medal with inscription Zurweihe Des Hauses, further inscription Wilhelm Herz Praesident der Handels, Kammer Zu Berlin, medal by G Morin, further coins to include a commemorative medal celebrating the meeting of the British Association in honour of Dr John Dalton dated June 1842, British Naval half penny dated 1812, Anglesey penny token dated 1788, George III ha'penny dated 1806, a continental coin embedded in a piece of pumice etc.
Samuel (Sam) Tonkiss (British, 1909-1992) - 'A Bronze Head of L S Lowry' Signed, no.25/36, and bearing a foundry stamp, the plinth base bearing applied plaque inscribed 'L.S. LOWRY RBA ARA MA LLD 1975', total height approx. 33cm. With this lot comes a black and white photograph inscribed to mount 'Lowry, George & Sam', also bears printed label verso, inscribed 'Portrait bronze bust of L S Lowry. George Aird (middle) with L S Lowry (left) and Sam Tonkiss (right) admiring the bronze bust of L S Lowry. Sam Tonkiss is the sculptor, George Aird is an art dealer who commissioned the bust and the sitter L S Lowry is an artist. Photography by Sefton Samuels.
