A Japanese bronze sleeve vase, Meiji period, with key moulded band beneath the rim and with applied relief moulded dragon clutching a pearl entwined around the body, nine character mark framed by two dragons. Height 30.4 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Base diameter 11.8 cm. There are traces of verdigris on the dragons claw clutching the pearl and along the bottom edge. The pearl within the claw has split and left a 10 mm x 4 mm hole. In general the patination is consistent throughout however there are some small fingernail size rub spots to the upper section at the rear and also all around the base. Otherwise there are no further obvious visible faults.
A collection of silver and bronze Photographic Society and Exhibition medals, Northampton, Plymouth and Ireland, all awarded to Albert E Coleman for figure studies and portraiture. 39 mm - 51 mm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: All medals have engraved presentation inscriptions. The largest medal has a very small edge knock (between 6 and 7 if looking on a clock face beyond the verse). All medals are generally in very good condition and there are some very small but minor rim knocks but these are not, in our opinion, detrimental or significant at all.
A fine late 19th century Vernis Martin ormolu mounted cabinet, with centre bombe glazed door flanked on either side by glazed panels and with cast bronze mounts, the base with Vernis Martin panels and raised on cabriole legs terminating in sabot feet. Height 200 cm, width 141 cm, depth +/- 52 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This cabinet is in extremely good condition. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The door is not warped and closes as it should. All metalwork is present and of very good quality. The veneers are a good colour and there are no significant losses. The rear left-hand leg has a few veneer nibbles on the inside front edge. Other than this we can see no veneer issues. The backboards are original. The centre painted panel has a few minor scuffs to the paintwork. The planking panels are in extremely good order. The right-hand panel has one small paint loss. The left-hand panel has one small surface scratch but no other issues. It would be difficult to find a cabinet of this type in any better condition.
