Its form imitates the bronze ritual vessel of the gui-type and is an example of the interest that existed in the archaic forms of sacred bronzes during the Qing dynasty.

One hand is raised with thumb and middle finger touching, the left arm is hanging down on the side with the hand holding a small container. The Bodhisattva is very human-looking with plain but elegant jewellery, large ear pendants and a crown with a small Buddha Amithaba effigy in the front. The expression of the statue is serene. Seen from the back we discover a detailed hairstyle made of curls and strands.

In the center is a round multi-leveled base with a cross-legged Gaja-Lakshmi, meaning Lakshmi with elephants. She is dressed in opulent jewellery and is wearing a large head crown. She is flanked by two standing elephants raising their trunks above Lakshmi's head. They are positioned in an open-work half-circle with ornamental decoration. on the sides we see more adorants and consorts playing instruments or holding objects. The top of the lamp is decorated with an arch with two mystical creatures on the end, in the center we see a seated Ganesha.

Framed by a fiery aureole which can be detached. Amitayus has a slim waist and the robe is covering his left shoulder, adorned with necklace, armlets, earrings and an opulent crown. A Chinese writing can be found at the bottom of the bronze. Long life vessel in the hand missing. The backside is flat.

The eight arms are holding various objects like a staff, a flower, a dagger and a script or forming mudras. We can see a snake coiling around the neck and a goat hide worn over the left shoulder, a thin scarf billowing from the shoulders. The face looking to the front has a menacing look with bulging eyes, bushy eyebrows, fangs in the mouth and a third eye. The other two faces also have a demonic look but with slender eyes, many small teeth and also a third eye. All faces wear skull crowns and their hair is streaming upwards like fire.

The Buddha is adorned with beaded jewellery, large ear pendants and a rich tiara encircling the high chignon. A thin scarf is billowing around his shoulders. The face is gazing slightly down with a smile, as in calm meditation. In his hands he is holding a splendid vessel.

His face is very welcoming with a smile.

The Boddhisattva's physiognomy is very female with a slender waist and wide hips, dressed in flowy garment tied around the hip with belts and chains. The body is adorned with various jewellery, large circular ear pendants with stone inlay decorate the elongated earlobes and an originally five-pointed tiara with the hair chignon in the center on the head. The nose is slightly damaged, the expression is benevolent with a tender smile. The back of the statue shows the thin hairlines and garment's details.

Bronze with Gems inlayIndia , 18th centuryWeight: 991 gramsDimensions: 12 x 7 x 7 cmGanesha, the remover of obstacles and one of the most popular deities in Hinduism, shown seated on a lotus base attached to a square platform with decorated sides. The deity is sitting casually next to his vahana, the mouse or rat who is holding a sweet ball in its tiny hands. Ganesha has four arms, two at the back are raised and hold a noose and a goad. The front right hand is raised with the open palm facing us and a stone inlay, abhaya mudra. The other hand's palm is facing the sky, as if holding something. Possibly the ball of sweet balls has been lost from there. His trunk is curled to his right. On his belly we see the serpent which he used to tie his belly up after he ate too much sweets and it burst. His ears are small and elegant and he wears a crown.

The body has the shape of a pear and is dressed in a long garment with floral incised pattern. The torso is decorated with armlets, bracelets, a large necklace and a flower garland. He is holding the gem-spewing mongoose in his left hand and a citrus fruit in the right with index and little finger stretched. The face is round with small features, downcast eyes, calm expression, a raised urna on the forehead. He wears large circular ear pendants and a five-pointed tiara. His chignon is topped by a lotus bud or diamond. Jambhala is found in five principal colors, black, yellow, white, green and red. He can appear as a king, peaceful, semi-peaceful or semi-wrathful and wrathful.

The depiction is very elegant and minimalistic, only dressed in a loincloth, her posture bent to her right from the waist. Her left arm is stretched down on the side, her thumb is touching the fingertips. The other hand is raised to the side with the same gesture. Her head is tilted to her left side, creating an s-curve. Her hair is tightly fastened into a bun at the back, she has big ears wearing creoles. Her eyes are wide open with red pupils, the lips are smiling widely and her gaze is piercing. There is a small inscription in front of the lotus base. Sita is a protagonist of the Ramayana and known as Mother Goddess or Goddess of Sacrifice and Purity.

His face has the appearance of a bull with bulging eyes, two horns and a fiery mane enclosed by a skull crown. A third eye is on his forehead. Yamantaka is wielding a sword with skull top in his right hand above the head, the left hand is stretched out to the side with thumb touching the middle finger. His neck is decorated with a garland of severed heads and a snake is coiling around his shoulders. The bottom is sealed with a punctuated double vajra symbol.

Durga is the Hindu Goddess of War. Standing on a lion with her right leg and Mahishasura, the buffalo demon at her left foot is crouching beneath her. The Goddess is dressed in a dhoti with decorations and a long necklace around her neck. Her arms are fanning out to the sides holding weapons like a big sword or a battle hatchet.

The lower body is dressed in a wavy garment with decorative brim. The legs and hips seem quite large in comparison to the Goddess's slim upper body. She is holding one hand raised with thumb touching the middle and ring finger while the other hand is resting above the knee, thumb touching index finger and holding a rosary. Flowers are growing besides her, she is wearing a decorative tiara with ornamental pattern. The inside seems hollow and shows small latches.

Dressed in a simple robe covering only the left shoulder with a decorative brim, the bottom is fanning out from under his crossed ankles. The physiognomy is adolescent with smooth skin, necklines, a round face and elongated earlobes. The eyes are almost closed, the thin eyebrows build two high arches with a portruding flame as third eye. The lips are fleshy and smiling slightly. Large ear pendants hang down onto the shoulders and the head is covered in tiny curls topped by a diamond.

Bronze fire-giltTibet , 18th centuryWeight: 1949 gramsDimensions: 22 x 20 x 10 cmHevajra is an important yidam in Tantric or Vajrayana Buddhism. Here he is shown with his consort Nairatmya in yab-yum position standing on a large lotus petal with beaded rim and stone inlay. They are framed by a large aureole of skulls and flames and his head is framed by a smaller one of skulls and petals. Hevajra is standing wide-legged on two bodies holding ritual objects. He is said to wear a necklace of fifty dry skulls and a crown of five human skulls. With one pair of arms he is cradling his consort to this body while the other ten arms are fanning out each holding a different object like a severed head, a khatvanga, a noose, a kartika knife, a drum and a hatchet. He has four gruesome heads with three eyes and four fangs. His high chignon is decorated with a vajra, the sun and moon. He is embracing the consort while holding a lotus flower and she is holding on to his neck, her legs wrapped around the waist. She is dressed in a waist belt and jewellery with stone inlay and a skull tiara on her head. Looking at the backside, the aureoles are flat but the bodies show the same rich details as from the front.

The Buddha is covered in wavy robes, his feet are bare. His right hand is showing to the front with the palm, abhaya mudra the gesture of fearlessness. The other hand is held at hip-height facing the sky with middle and ring finger drawn into the palm. The face is round and the head comparably big with elongated earlobes. His eyes are almost closed and the lips have a fleshy colour. The backside is without great detail except for the curled head and the cranial protuberance.

The dignitary is wearing a headpiece and from the back we can see that the robe is fastened around the waist with a belt. Provenance: Old French Collection

Dressed in a flowy robe covering the right shoulder, no jewellery at all. He is touching the earth with his right hand, bhumispharsa mudra and holding a small vessel in his other hand. The Buddha used this gesture when he attained enlightenment under the bodhi tree. His earlobes are elongated and bear stretched-out ear holes, the face is smiling with downcast eyes, a raised urna between the eyebrows. Tiny balls cover the head and ushnisha which is topped by a lotus bud finial.

Mahakala is dressed in rich armor and adorned with jewellery, a skull crown which can't tame the wild mane streaming upwards like fire. With his left hand he forms a mudra by thumb touching middle and ring finger, the other hand is raised in the air holding a dagger. He has bulging eyes with bushy eyebrows, a broad nose and the open mouth reveals his fangs. The back of the statue shows the same detail. He may look like a demon but the third eye on his forehead tells us that he is only a fierce emanation and protector of the dharma teachings.
