A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE TIBETO-CHINESE GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF MAHACHAKRA VAJRAPANI WITH CONSORT, MING DYNASTY The six-armed Vajrapani wearing a tiger skin dhoti and with three ferocious heads stands embracing his consort Mamaki. He holds a vajra in his upper hand and another hand is raised with an extended finger, both figures have cold-painted pigments to the hair and the headdresses are adorned with crowns of skulls. Both wear elaborate jewellery with snakes and jewelled armbands and anklets. Both figures are trampling Brahma and Shiva beneath their feet, and are raised on a powerfully cast double lotus base, 42cm. (2) Provenance: from the collection of John Newall Esq. A CHINESE BRONZE TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER, QING DYNASTY The cylindrical body with a flattened rim, raised on three elephant head feet, the base with a six character Xuande mark within a pair of scaly dragons chasing a flaming pearl of wisdom, 17.7cm. A CHINESE BRONZE OVAL INCENSE BURNER AND COVER, XU, QIANLONG 1736-95 The body cast in shallow relief with geometric archaistic bands, a horned animal mask lug handle to each side, the domed cover cast with four flanges depicting zoomorphic details, encircling a central cartouche of waves within a band of key fret, the base with a mark which reads Wu Xian Xue Zhi, encircled by further characters, 31cm. A LARGE PAIR OF CHINESE IMPERIAL FAMILLE ROSE GU BEAKER ‘BAJIXIANG’ VASES, IRON-RED SIX CHARACTER QIANLONG MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD 1736-95 Of archaic bronze form, each brightly decorated with the eight Buddhist Emblems, adorned with ribbons and encircled by elaborate scrolling lotus designs, all reserved on a white ground with gilt rims, divided by bands of key fret, ruyi-heads and stylized acanthus, the bell-shaped foot with chevrons and key fret, the interior and base with a turquoise glaze, 44.8cm.
