dating: 20th Century provenance: Tibet, Peak with trident surmounted a bronze skull (Chitipati?). Iron shaft. Bottom with half, brass vajra. The elements are in their conventional position. Complete with a pendant in polychrome fabric, embroidered and adorned with fringes. The form of the Buddhist Khatvanga is derived from the early Indian Shaivite yogins. The khatvanga or trishula is wielded by Shiva and is said to have been used to sever the original head of Ganesha. Within the Hindu tradition, the three points are said to have a number of meanings and significance. They are commonly said to represent the various trinities creation, maintenance and destruction, past, present and future, the three Gunas. When looked upon as a weapon of Shiva, the trishula is said to destroy the three worlds. It also represents the inseparable union of great bliss and emptiness, as ultimate Bodhichitta. height 61,2 cm.

Leaf-shaped quillon, loop-guard decorated with floral motifs, a winged lion's head on the upper part, pommel shaped as an eagle's head. Wooden grip with gilded brass hilts decorated with bay leaves in bas-relief, pearl grip scales with silver Maltese cross at the front. Leather scabbard with gilded bronze hilts and decorated with floral motifs in bas-relief. Complete with a rare, gilded cloth sword knot, the cross is of silver and the pompon of wire. See 'Storia dell'Arma Bianca Italiana' by Cesare Calamandrei pag. 390. Pierced langet to effigy fretwork laurel branches. Quillons (one of which restores) on a circular base and curled downwards. Long cap, finely carved in bass-relief with floral motifs, spirals and frames; pommel with a hole for sword-knot. Back of the quillon with a shield with floral decoration, finely carved in bass-relief. Preserved in a wooden, later case. length 100 cm.

Metall. Bronze. Skulptur. Eugen, Heinrich [eigentl. Heinrich Eugen von Zitzewitz] (?). (Reliefprorträt - halbes Selbstbildnis des Künstlers ?). Wandrelief mit der Darstellung eines halbierten Kopfes. Nicht signiert und datiert. Aus der Produktion der 1980er Jahre. Höhe  39,5 cm. (21) * Heinrich Eugen (eigentl. Heinrich Eugen von Zitzewitz, 1925 - 1998) war Maler, Graphiker und Bildhauer. Nach seinem Studium an der Berliner Hochschule für Bildende Künste bei Professor Luckner übte er auch eine Lehrtätigkeit am Martino - Katharineum in Braunschweig aus. Seine Bilder manifestieren den ständigen Umbruch zwischen Umwelt und Technik. Sein künstlerisches Schaffen polarisiert zwischen Gegenwart und surrealer Zukunft. Das hier vorliegende Relief zeigt die Hälfte eines Kopfporträts, vermutlich ein Selbstbildnis des Künstlers (?) in der für ihn typischen Darstellung. Zustand: Etwas angestaubt, mit altersbedingten kleinen Abrieben und Fehlstellen. Dekoratives und eindrucksvolles Relief.

(21) * Birgit Stauch (1961) hat am Johann Friedrich Böttger Institut in Selb "Formgestaltung" studiert, danach folgte eine private Lehre bei den Bildhauern Arno Breker und Richard Alexander Agricola. Danach arbeitete sie für die Kunstgießerei Strassacker und war dort  als Bildhauerin und Designerin tätig. Parallel dazu verwirklichte sie Aufträge als freischaffende Künstlerin für private und geschäftliche Auftraggeber. Das hier vorliegende "Paar Buchstützen" entstand im Wachsausschmelzverfahren. Eine der Figuren ist im Fuß monogrammiert. Das entsprechende Zertifikat der Künstlerin liegt bei. Zustand: Etwas angestaubt, mit altersbedingten kleinen Abrieben und Fehlstellen. Die Figuren wurden im Wachsausschmelzverfahren in der Gießerei G. W. Lund & Son, Birmingham, England , hergestellt. Die Auflage der kompletten Spiele ist 1500 Exemplare jede Figur ist nummeriert und signiert. Beim vorliegenden Spiel "Wunderlich 33". dazu ein Schachbrett mit Wurzelholz furniert, nach einem Entwurf des Künstlers. Höhe König 24 cm; Bauer 8,5 cm. Schachbrett (Abmessungen) 53 x 53 x 7,6 cm. (31) * Kompletter Figurensatz aus Bronze von Paul Wunderlich (1927 - 2010), er war u. a. Maler, Zeichner, Graphiker und Bildhauer. Er widmete sich mit seinen neosurrealistischen Bildern und Skulpturen überwiegend erotischen und mythologischen Themen. Das vorliegende Spiel zählt zu den Highlights aus dem Oeuvre des Künstlers. Die Figuren Minotauros und Nike als König und Königin, die Feder als Läufer und das Pferd Penthesilea sind Leitmotive und haben ihre eigene Geschichte im Werk des Künstlers. The limited edition of 1500 complete sets as cast by the lost wax process by G. W. Lund & Son foundry in Birmingham, England. Each figure is numbered and signed, the present set is marked "Wunderlich 33". With the set there is a chess board veneered with root wood, based on a design by the artist. Height king 24 cm; pawn 8.5 cm. The chessboard (dimensions) 53 x 53 x 7.6 cm. Complete set of bronze figures by Paul Wunderlich (1927 - 2010), he was a painter, draftsman, graphic artist and sculptor. With his neo-surrealistic pictures and sculptures, he mainly devoted himself to erotic and mythological subjects. The present game is one of the highlights from the artist's oeuvre. SECOND ANGLO-AFGHAN WAR 1878-1881Papers of Lieutenant Colonel Hardin Burnley-Campbell (1843-1920) of the 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers), relating to his service in India during the second Afghan Campaign of 1878-1881, comprising:i) Two army regimental order books for 'Troop B', written in ink in several hands, volume one detailing daily orders from 17 September to 28 November 1879, volume two continuing until 23 March 1880, mostly covering the minutiae of camp life such as the daily timetable ('...Reveille 6.30, Stables 7...'), parades and inspections, court martials, lists of men and support staff ('...grass cutters... native farriers... cooks...'), the care and exercising of horses ('...Horses heels will be thoroughly dried with rubbers...'), uniform ('...the kharki jacket to be worn over the patrol jacket... 2 pairs of cloth pantaloons if possible...'), equipment ('...owing to the destruction of saddlery &c by white ants in future the saddles will be placed on a portion of the hoop grass in piles of 6...'), ammunition ('...any man losing it will be severely delt with...'), welfare of the men ('...All men off duty will... be marched to the left bank of the Cabul River for bathing...'), preparations to move camp ('...not more than 3 horses length distance to be between each troop...'), the troops ready for action ('...After orders by Capt. After several years in Ireland, he was posted to the Umballa station in India in 1878 where duties consisted of escort and transport tasks along the Khyber lines of communication. Whilst commanding a squadron at Basowal, following the murder of the political agent Cavagnari and the failure of the Treaty of Gandamak, he was charged with accompanying the deposed Emir Yaqub Khan into exile in India. He was present at the affair at Dakka on 15 January 1880, as mentioned in our notebook, before rejoining the Headquarters of the Regiment at Jellalabad. In August 1880 he was appointed Orderly Officer to the Cavalry Brigadier, General Sir Hugh Gough and with the Cavalry Brigade accompanied Lt. General Sir Frederick Roberts on his famous, impressively fast, march from Kabul to Kandahar, and was present at the battle of Kandahar on 1st September. He was the only member of the regiment to receive a bronze star for this epic journey and was mentioned in despatches.After the Afghan campaign, Major Burnley saw service in the first Boer campaign (see lot 13) and retired in 1882, receiving the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in consideration of his distinguished service during the Afghan War. In June 1907 he became a real-life Phileas Fogg by circumnavigating the globe in 40 days, 19 hours and 30 minutes, breaking the previous record of 54 days, a record which he held for four years.
