AN ITALIAN PIETRA PAESINA AND SCAGLIOLA MOUNTED EBONY CABINET of architectural design, the drawers finely decorated with trees, with central door flanked by gilt bronze mounted burr walnut pilasters the interior as a mirror walled room with marquetry floor with bee before three drawers, on later stand, the frieze mounted with three re-used scagliola tablets, 148cm h; 105 x 44cm, 17th c ++The cabinet in good original condition with slight cracks affecting several of the scagliola tablets to the drawer fronts. One of the three drawers to the interior lacking the ring pull, the larger drawers with old replaced ring pulls, the ornate escutcheons to large drawer and keyplate original, the stand of probably early 19th c date

A VICTORIAN SANDSTONE SUNDIAL the 9 inch bronze horizontal dial indistinctly signed and with plain gnomon, on chamfered pillar with square capital, the sides with latin inscription and date 1838, on chamfered pillar with the raised initials EC/DT and stepped plinth, 106cm h The inscription reads: EDVARDVS T COKE DE BRIMINGTON ARMIG: ET DIANA NVPER TALBOT CROSBIE DE ARDFERT IN HIBERNIA CONIVX TEMPORIS NVNQVAM REDITVRI MEMORES ET FVTVRA SPERANTES. MONITOREM HVNC PONI CVRAVERVNT ANNO SALVTIS MDCCCXXXVIII. Erected at their home Brimington Hall (demolished 1931) the present sundial was commissioned by Colonel Edward Thomas Coke, DL, JP (1807-1888) of Brimington and Trusley, Derbyshire and Debdale Hall, Nottinghamshire. He married, in August 1835 Diana (d1895) daughter of the Rev. John Talbot-Crosbie of Ardfert Abbey, Co Kerry. They had three daughters. Colonel Coke was the son of D`Ewes Coke (d 1856) of Brookhill Hall, Pinxton, Nottinghamshire and Harriet Wright (d1815) of Mapperley Hall, Nottingham. A watercolour full-length portrait of Colonel Coke in uniform, when in Burma, painted jointly by himself and his wife, was sold from the Collection of Michael Appleby, Sotheby`s, 20 November 2000, lot 139. ++The bronze dial weathered and with green patina but probably original to the sone pillar, the capital with two large flat corner chips and minor edge knocks but in basically good original condition
A SET OF THREE CHINESE BRONZE ALTAR FIGURES of seated Daoist Dignitaries, 18th/19th century, hollow cast with traces of gilt, each sitting on a hardwood throne, wearing elaborate headdress and formal robes, their hands clasped holding a Hu sceptre at chest height, 17-19cms high x 9-10cms wide (one with sceptre missing, one section of robes and foot missing). `Smethurst, 138 New Bond Street, Patent`, a pair of ormolu and bronze colza oil lamps, each with gadrooned urns above snake held nozzles, the foliate socles on labelled square bases on winged paw feet, with engraved glass storm shades, 43cm (17in) high (4) Smethurst is recorded at this address before 1814 and still there in the 1840s.
