A Royal Worcester porcelain commemorative scent flask for the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria, moulded in relief with a central portrait medallion within a collar of roses, thistles and shamrocks, to the reverse a conforming centre panel within border titled Canada, India and Australia, decorated in shot bronze enamel and pale blue, gilt mark, white metal cap cast as a crown, 3.25” high.
*WWI - In Memoriam. Two trios of war medals for two brothers, both sets comprising a 1914/15 Star, General Service Medal and Victory Medal (the first with oak leaf indicating mention in Dispatches), each with a large bronze commemorative plaque with relief design inscribed "He died for Freedom & Honour - Christopher Henry Duncan Champion/Geoffrey Servante Champion", each quartet mounted in an ebonised glazed frame, 30 x 25 cm A rare pairing of two brothers' medals. Christopher Henry Duncan Champion (Lieutenant, Australian Infantry, A.I.F., 3rd Bn., died aged 25, 14 April 1918) and Geoffrey Servante Champion (Lieutenant, Australian Infantry, A.I.F., 4th Bn., died aged 21, 25th July 1916), both sons of Rev. Arthur Hammerton & Mary Celia Champion, New South Wales, and natives of Launceston, Tasmania. For further information see the A.I.F. database. (2)
*WWI - Dead Man's Penny. Original bronze commemorative medal, presented to the families of men and women killed during the First World War, this medal with the name in relief 'Reginald Thomas O'Connor', approx. 12 cm diameter and 5 mm thick, contained in orig. envelope & card wallet, together with related letters, epaulettes, masonic certificates and collection of postcards of Japan & Hongkong etc. Lieutenant F. O'Conner was Sports Officer on H.M.S. Titania which served throughout WWI. HMS Titania was a merchant ship of 5250 tons, being built in England for the Austrians when war broke out. She was commandeered and converted for use as a submarine parent ship and appointed as depot ship to the 9th and 10th submarine flotillas consisting initially of GJ to G6 and later Jl to J6 and later M1 (the first submarine to be fitted with a 12-inch gun). She was commanded by Max Horton, who in World War II was Admiral in command of the Western Approaches. HMS Titania also served with the Home fleet through WWII and was finally scrapped in September 1949. (a carton)
