Porcius Laeca, Obv: Head of Roma with winged helmet, mark of value, LAECA, Rv: Libertas in a bursting quadriga is crowned by flying Victoria, among them M PORC, in the section ROMA, VF, lighty rubbed, toning. dating: 1915 provenance: Austria, Knight Cross III class, in gilded and enameled bronze. Crossed swords on the triangular ribbon. In original case marked in gold 'Österr. Kaiserlicher Orden der Eisenen Krone III. Classe'. Lined with velvet and white silk, with golden stamp and old label, hand-marked 'Z 2344/1915 ......... Löwenstein'. Together with a miniature without laurel branches. height 6 cm.
dating: Third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: USA, Round, rifled, cal. 41 rimfire barrel, marked 'COLT' with traces of bluing, fore-sight. Visible groove, cleaned core. Bronze, nickel-plated frame with marking, '41 CAL'. Spur-trigger, walnut grip scales. SN '44xxx'. In working order. length 12,5 cm.
dating: late 18th Century provenance: France, Slightly curved, single-and false-edged blade with large central fuller and thin rear groove. Bronze hilt with big parts of original gilding, with beamed quillon, big guard with a lion holding a Phrygian cap, winged lion, cannon and a snake's tail. Wide loop-guard with grooves and big pommel with a plumed helmet. Wooden grip with metallic wire binding. Leather scabbard with brass mounts, two suspension rings. length 90 cm.
dating: 1861 - 1865 provenance: USA, In red cloth, with a peacock-blue band at its base and two gold braid rings on top of the blue band. Moths damages. One line of gold braid in the quatrefoil on top of the single lieutenant's stripe. Square visor with gilded chin-strap. Louisiana state militia pelican buttons (15 mm) with Louisiana coat-of-arms, marked 'Scovill Mfg.& Co.'. Bronze-color metal front badge with crossed cannons surmounted with brass letters 'WA' on a blue band. Leather sweat band inside with signs of use and some damage, with remains of gilding. Black, fabric cap with embroidered monogram 'RM' (probably of the owner) in white and red thread. Internal dimensions 17.5 x 15 cm. height circa 11 cm.
dating: late 18th Century provenance: Naples, Straight, double-edged blade of hexagonal section, grooved first part and with inscriptions 'VIVA FERDINANDO IV' and 'REY POR LA......'. Bronze hilt with great remains of original gilding. Iron scabbard, lacquered in black with gilded, brass mounts. Two suspension rings. length 101.5 cm.
dating: 1896 provenance: France, Straight, double-edged blade of hexagonal section, first part engraved and gilded with trophies and floral motifs on a blue ground at the forte, areas with pitting. Gilded bronze hilt, finely engraved, quillon block with three crowned lilies, straight quillons, decorated with flowers in bass-relief and with ends with lion's heads. Crown-shaped pommel with lilies, wooden grip with mother-of-pearl grip scales and ring-nuts decorated with lilies. Complete with white, leather scabbard with gilded brass mounts. In its presentation case with silver plaque with inscription 'Presented by the Inhabitants of Stowe near Buckingham to His Royal Highness the Duc d'Orleans on his Marriage Nov. 5th 1896'. Wooden, leather-covered case with three, brass lilies on the cover, lined with bordeaux velvet. A leather bandoleer inside and tassel with a buckle and a mount with brass double lily (small damages), in a case with watercolor miniature depicting the Duke in young years, brass coat-of-arms with three crowned lilies (a type of seal?) and enameled medallion with crowned monogram 'N' (Napoleon). length 89 cm.
dating: Third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Europe, Straight, double-edged blade, ribbed in the center and with double central fuller in the first half. Fine, bronze hilt with quillon, quillon block carved with braided branches and quillons with a beast's head. In-the-round grip, finely carved to effigy a shirtless archer, dressed in a kilt and intent on holding a handful of arrows (in the left hand he was once probably holding a bow of lance). Right hand holding another arrow. Bronze scabbard with decorations in relief. A vulture above, under which the two naked warriors are fighting, surrounded by the coconut palms. Lower other animals, and the Rod of Asclepius surmounting crossed bow and lance, a mask on the ground. length 25,9 cm.
dating: provenance: Europe, In bronze and iron. Handle engraved and pierced with masks held by mystic animals. The pear is composed of three parts (which form the shape of a pear when closed) with a cusp at the lower end. Iron, central screw-pivot. By turning the screw, the three segments slowly open. Used not only orally. See similar specimen in 'Tortura Inquisizione Pena di Morte' by Aldo Migliorini with description on pages 112/113.Provenance: Museum of Torture and Death Penalty in San Gimignano. length 24.5 cm.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Japan, Ho with central cusp of lozenge section, slightly lanceolate and provided with large wings at the base, short neck. Shaft covered with bronze-color metal ring-nuts and mounts in the upper part. Chidome in rope with remains of gilding. Lower part of the haft with remains of covering in mother-of-pearl scales. Ishizuki with remains of black lacquer. height 96,7 cm.
