The firm Mottheau et Fils, primarily known for lighting fixtures, did well with the advent of electricity and displayed several of their "torchère lumineuse" at the 1900 Paris Exhibition where it was commented "we doubt if a more complete success is to be recorded to the credit of any exhibitor than can be conceded to Messieurs Mottheau et Fils".
