A 19th century pair of bronzed spelter figures of Mercury and Fortuna, after Giambologna (Italian, 1529-1608), both figures stand on cylindrical stepped black marble plinths, which are encircled by bronze panels. These panels are decorated with continuous bas-relief scenes, depicting cherubs sailing ships and consulting globes, 55cm.

The figurine depicts a classical woman seated on tree trunk with fine detailing to face and hair, a winged putti standing in front holding a nautilus shell to her mouth so she can drink. The base cast with naturalistic details and raised on a repeating helix border. Signed H. Moreau to reverse. Measures approx. 55cm tall.
