Arte Islamica. An animal shaped bronze openwork censer with silver inlays traces Eastern Iran, 11th - 12th century. A censer in the shape of a feline, embellished with many floral motifs and a long three-pointed tail which maybe was used as handle. The object can be opened by means of a hinge near the neck, and the latter is decorated with Kufic inscriptions. Right under the hinge the incense burner is embellished with two painted animals. The "feline" has hollow eyes, and maybe the original object could be refined with two glazed ceramic inlaid – like the lot exposed in Rome during the exhibit "Arte della Civiltà Islamica", which ended last September. Another similar object is the one displayed at the Musée du Louvre (Accession Number AA19).. Cm 25,00 x 27,00.

Arte Sud-Est Asiatico. A rare gilded bronze statue of Buddha Sakyamuni Sri Lanka, Kandy period, 18th century or earlier . Difficult to find on the antiquarian market, the bronze cast sculpture depicts the Gautama Buddha sitting on a double lotus base, in the paryanka position, with the hands performing the dhyanamudra gesture. Worthy of notice are the fine depiction of the flowing robes – recalling the Indian sculptural tradition of Amaravati and Nagajunakonda –, the flaming ornament decorating the hair, and the fixed open eyes, all characteristics typical of the period in exam, or perhaps even of an earlier one. For a similar item refer to the one owned by the Los Angeles Museum of Art (M.79.152.267) and the one owned by the Brooklyn Museum. . Cm 9,50 x 13,00.

The figure is pictured with four arms: the right one in the abhayamudra position and the left one pointing to the foot lifted in the act of dancing, representing liberation, while the secondary hands bear two attributes: the drum and the fire.. A gilded bronze dated stele depicting a bodhisattva with flaming halo and bearing incised inscriptions on the square base and at the rear of the halo China, dated 5th April 551 CE., Qing dynasty or earlier. On a tall square base with carved inscriptions, lays a second base shaped as a double lotus flower, on which the bodhisattva, perhaps Akasagarbha, stands, adorned by the usual jewels. Further inscriptions are on the back of the flaming halo that surrounds him. Inscriptions: memorial statue sculpted in the Qi period, during the reign of the emperor Timbao (550-559 AD) in the 8th sexagesimal cycle (551 AD). Also, on the base: first district, work gifted on the fifth day of the fourth lunar month (April 5). . Cm 27,50.
