A 19th Century Japanese Tanto, the 29.5cm unsigned steel blade with delamination marks, the tang with two mekugi ana, one piece copper habaki, the iron tsuba incised with mountain ranges, the braid bound same hilt with parcel gilt bronze fuchi and horn kashira, the black lacquer saya set with a kozuka with bird decorated handle The unsigned tang has file marks and has been cleaned. The blade has a number of delamination marks and the edge has been resharpened to remove one of the marks. The fittings are good. The kozuka blade is rust pitted

The blade measures 76cm from tip to tip of the tang, and 60.5cm from tip to where the habaki sits. The vendor is a member of a Japanese Sword Society and has had the blade authenticated by an expert
