A very fine mid 19th Century French gilt bronze portico clock of massive proportions, having an acanthus leaf cast double knopped finial supported on waisted plinth flanked by twin putti above a gilded dial with porcelain inset Roman numerals (lacking hands), the eight day Paris made cylinder movement stamped 'J Albinet & G Goulon' striking on a bell, the whole supported on four maidens united by swags, masks and with applied scroll cast decoration, all flanking a centre square tapering column with further scroll embellished decoration, the whole raised on shaped square plinth with proud bowed corners (colour good and original, appears unrestored), height 92.5cm, width 39cm
