(3)西藏十八 - 十九世紀 銅鎏金金剛總持、阿彌陀佛及金剛手菩薩像Condition Report: 品相報告 Vajradhara: each figure with wear and corrosion to the gilding and metal, with tiny indentation to the back of the male figure. Amitābha: scratches to the face, wear to the gilding, casting fault to his right arm, verdigris to the hair, the centre of the left hand with a small hole, which originally was attached to an alms bowl now missing, indentation to the base. Vajrapani: Wear to the poly chromed surface, especially to the flaming frieze, wear to the gilding, minor indentations and scratches to the surface.

A magnificent Tibetan gilt bronze figure of Chaturbhuja Manjushri, Namasangiti18th centuryThe deity seated in padmasana on a waisted double lotus base, the slender waist rising up to broad shoulders with upper right hand holding a sword, lower left hand raised in front of his chest holding the end of a leafy lotus stem terminating in a lotus flower with the Prajñāpāramitā placed on top, hair arranged in a high chignon wearing a five point crown, inlayed with coral, malachite and lapis lazuli, other body jewelry similarly embellished, wearing a dhoti decorated with floral border, 19cm high.西藏十八世紀 銅鎏金四臂文殊菩薩像Cf. Mañjuśrī is one of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas, or 'Eight Close Sons' of Buddha Śākyamuni, whose name and variations of names were enumerated in the Charya Tantra, Nāmasaṃgīti ('The Chanting of Names'). The current form, with one face four arms, was included in the tantra mentioned above, with variations of attributions held in his hands, and somehow rare as most examples of Mañjuśrī in this on form hold a bow and sword in the upper hands. For a similar form from the Ming dynasty please refer to item no. 57406 on himalayanart.org.Condition Report: 品相報告Slight denting, wear to the gilding and tarnish to the metal all commensurate with age, some inlaid stones are missing to the crown and body jewelery.

A Chinese bronze archaic tripod ritual wine vessel, jueShang dynastyCast with whorl-capped posts, prominent spout and flaring tripod legs, the mid section with taotie in shallow-relief over a leiwen ground, the traces of two characters under the single animal-mask handle, the surface patinated to a dark greenish hue strewn with verdigris, 21.5cm high.商 銅饕餮紋爵Bronze vessels like the present lot were used by the Shang Kings, and later by those of the Zhou Dynasty, to prepare and consume wine in ceremonies that would link the kings to the spirits of their ancestors, and symbolise both their power and legitimacy to rule with the mandate of Heaven. Emblematic of the outstanding mastery of metallurgy in ancient China, and of the ability of Shang Dynasty craftsmen to marry functionality with elaborate decoration, the silhouette of the jue became a symbol of status when interred in the tombs of nobility. The cultural relevance and status of the jue remained such that even when its ritualistic used ceased, the shape was used for millenia until the Qing Dynasty in various mediums, from copper alloys, lacquer, cloisonné-enamel, rhinoceros horn, to porcelain.Condition Report: 品相報告Expected surface encrustations and wear consistent with age.
