Hochreliefs aus Bronze, hellbraun patiniert und aus Zinkguss in der charakteristischen, expressiv-blockhaften Manier des Rheinenser Künstlers gearbeitet, der bei Josef Thorak in München und Karl Albiker in Dresden studierte. Besonders sein Frühwerk war beeinflusst durch die Arbeiten von Käthe Kollwitz und Ernst Barlach. Bronzerelief: H. 21 x B. 12,3 x T. 1 cm; Zinkgussrelief: H. 52,5 x B. 28,5 x T. 1,5 cm.

Naturalistische Darstellung dreier Fasane mit reicher Gefiederzeichnung auf Terrainplinthe und Marmorpostament. Poertzel, der an den Weltausstellungen in Saint Louis 1904 und in Brüssel 1910 teilnahm, arbeitete Portraitbüsten, aber auch plastischen Bauschmuck und Gartenskulpturen und war als Tierplastiker vor allem für seine Darstellung von Fasanen und Wildvögeln bekannt.
