CHARLES CUMBERWORTH (1811-1852); A GILT-BRONZE PERSONIFICATION OF INNOCENCECast by the C.H. LeBlanc, Late 19th CenturyThe female nude cast with a serpent held to the chest and holding flowers, the base inscribed and stamped to the underside ‘INNOCENCE’ and ‘CH LEBLANC’, 29cm highCondition report: Some rubbing and light tarnishing. Relatively fine casting and finishing to the detail. Lacking plinth base. The Foundry of LeBlanc was the heir to the famous Barbedienne Factory, France. Barbedienne died in 1891, after which Gustave LeBlanc, then M. LeBlanc took over the factory and ceased operation in 1952. LeBlanc is known for its production of small-scale sculptural decorations and objets d'art during the Beaux Art period of the late 19th and early 20th Century.
A BRONZE FIGURE OF NEPTUNEAfter Giambologna, possibly late 17th Century / 18th Century, mounted on a rouge griotte marble and Siena marble plinth base, 27cm highCondition report: Scuffs and small chips to the marble, notably to the edges and corners. Bronze patina rubbed. The figure is missing a baton held in the hand at the back, behind the dolphin.

The dark patination is slightly rough and quite worn with oxidisation in areas. A few spots of verdi oxidisation in small areas.Dirt and dust. Socle worn, dirt and general scuffs, chips and knocks. A metal bracket to the top of the socle is broken, originally securing the bust to the base. In my opinion the metal bracket has been later added to allow for display on the marble socle

Servant. Servant specialised in Egyptian Revival and Antique reproduction pieces and was a medallist at the major international exhibitions between 1867 and 1887.Condition report: Dirt and dust to the recesses, light rubbing commensurate with use and age.Requires tightening on to the socle base. Some tarnishing to the base and rubbing to the gilding. Very good condition.
