After Giambologna (Flemish 1529-1608). A 17th century Italian Florentine bronze figure of the Crouching Venus, on a Swedish porphyry and veined white marble base, 18.4cm high. Provenance: Sir Leon Bagrit London until 1979. With Daniel Katz Ltd, London, June 2000. The Collection of the Late P. J. Rankin.

After Alessandro Algardi (Italian, 1598-1654). The Rest on the Flight into Egypt, an oval bronze relief plaque, 2nd half 17th century, 26.7 x 33.7cm. This bronze relief is a version after the original gilt bronze relief designed by Algardi to accompany the marble group of The Martyrdom of St. Paul in S. Paolo, Bologna in 1641. The altar was designed by Borromini on the commission of Cardinal Bernardino Spada. A closely related gilt bronze example was sold by Sotheby's, Important European Terracotta & Bronze Sculpture from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections, 29th January 2010, lot 439.

Cricketing interest. After Joseph Durham (1814-1877). A pair of bronze figures of cricketers, one preparing to bowl, the other taking guard, on a naturalistic base, signed 'J.Durham', 39cm high (max). (2) The original series of five cricketers was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1864. A complete set was sold by Dreweatt Neate, The Keith Crump Collection of Cricketing Memorabilia, 26th September 2006, for £26,000.

A 19th century French bronze figure of Moliere, the writer seated holding a book and pen, on a black marble base, the underside with a handwritten paper label, 12.3cm high, 14cm wide. The original sculpture can be found at the junction of rue Moliere and rue Richelieu, Paris.
