A Chinese bronze mounted enamel lamp base, early 20th century, of baluster form, painted in famille rose enamels with phoenix in panels on a foliate ground, the mounts cast with mythical beasts and geometric motifs, on elephant mask feet, 42cm high, fitted for electricity. Some typical surface wear and scratching. In good decorative order. However the base section appears to be re-painted with fresh gilding. Blue paint is a different colour in this are which suggests restoration. One handle loose, series of hairline cracks running down neck from rim to body, some wear to enamels, 46cm high
