ARMSTRONG NEIL: (1930- ) American Astronaut, Commander of Apollo XI (1969). The first man to walk on the moon. Signed and inscribed colour 8 x 10 photograph, the original NASA image depicting Armstrong standing in a three quarter length pose wearing his white spacesuit. A large image of the moon appears in the background. Signed across a light area of the image, `To Mac & Ace, with warm regards, Neil Armstrong, Apollo 11`. The signature and inscription are slightly faded, although remain perfectly legible. Together with an A.L.S., Viola L. Armstrong (Mrs. Stephen K. Armstrong)` by Armstrong`s mother, two pages, 8vo, 912 Neil Armstrong Drive, Wapakoneta, Ohio, 10th October 1971, to Mrs. McKee, thanking her for her telephone call and letter and continuing `I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the very beautiful bronze medal. I shall cherish it as long as I am permitted to live. Now I shall turn your letter with your request over to Neil, and I hope that you will receive it before long. The next time I see him I shall give it to him.` In a postscript she also remarks `I shall mail your generous gift to the Neil Armstrong museum…` Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Armstrong. Also including the original invoice from Presidential Art Medals Inc., made to Maxine McKee for the supply of a bronze Apollo 11 medal at a total cost of $5.20. McKee has annotated the invoice in her hand, in part, `Sent bronze medal to Neil Armstrong`s mother, after telecon with her….It was sent cert. return receipt`, accompanied by the original US Postal Service receipt referred to by McKee, the printed oblong 12mo document boldly signed by Neil Armstrong`s father, Stephen K. Armstrong. The lot also includes an Apollo 11 mission patch. An unusual and rare grouping of signatures. G to VG, 5

R.A.O.C., comprising 39-45 Medal, Korea Medal, United Nations Medal with KOREA bar and Coronation Medal, complete with miniatures, Regular Army Certificate of Service, together with RAOC Officer`s dress cap, Sam Browne belt, assorted RAOC and Middlesex Regiment insignia including a good OSD bronze Middlesex cap badge, Regimental ties, brass Middlesex Regiment bed plate, a silver presentation cigarette case stamped .835, a Kukri and 4 Britains` Middlesex Regiment hand painted soldiers. Together with his father`s medals, a First War Pair and Meritorious Service Medal, to 17 SJT. A.E. SOBEY. R.A.M.C. on the pair and 464011 SJT A.E. SOBEY R.A.M.C. complete with box of issue. (Parcel) Captain Edward George Sobey served with the Middlesex Regiment in Korea. Lt. Sobey led 12 Platoon against a Company of the enemy from the Naktong River Bridge Head and led further bayonet assaults on heavily fortified hill top positions.
An important and very rare, dated, early 17c German block plane 4" x 1 5/8" of bronze construction profusely decorated overall with a lions head protruding from the toe and the date 1636 on the heel. Provenance; this plane was in the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Exposition 1932 and latterly in the Michel Rullier Collection in France. A very similar plane, undated, was sold for £5000 in England in 1988. G
