A FINE FRENCH EMPIRE GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE SHAVING MIRROR BY DENIERE the double sided plate in circular foliate frame pivoted between swans issuing from scrolling foliage, on oval base and four floriform feet, 45cm h, retaining the printed oval trade label of Deniere Rue Vivienne No 15, Paris with medaille d`or for 1823 and 1827, c1830 Jean-Francois Deninger, called Denière established a foundry and `atelier de ciseleur [et] dorure` (D Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Francais du XIXe Siecle, Paris 2000, p162) in 1813. A partnership with F T Matelin ended in 1820 and the firm continued with a magasin in the rue Vivienne. In 1844 it became Denière et Fils and finally closed in 1903 ( H Ottomeyer & O Proschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munchen 1986, vol II, pp682-684). In fine complete condition, not restored or regilt

A fine exhibition standard 5 inch gauge model of Great Eastern Railway rebuilt Class D16 4-4-0 tender locomotive `Claud Hamilton`, 1900, built by L. Labram of Nuneaton in 1973, to the design by J. Holden of the Stratford works, with a brazed copper boiler, silver soldered stays, extended smokebox, superheater, side feed clacks as per prototype and D16/2, two Ross Pop safety valves, and sloping grate with ash pan, the boiler fed by two injectors or donkey pump with hand feed pump in the tender, with two inclined inside cylinders with slide valve gear and Stephenson`s link motion, bronze bushed where possible or hardened, the Adams type bogies equalised and side controlled with working leaf springs throughout, the brakes being steam or air with reservoir, the right-hand side of the model featuring a Westinghouse pump, the locomotive also with twin ram Wakefield lubricator and feed pipes to the axle boxes with separate metering valves, and ratchet lubricator, the fine scale cab including whistle control, driver`s brake shut-off, injector controls, hand pump clack, blower, driver`s brake, grate dumper, rear axle box oilers, regulator, scale pressure gauge, sight glasses, lever-operated drain cocks, wooden planked floor and reversing screw, the later type three 450 gallon six-wheel tender with detailed rivet-work, toolboxes, vents, water cocks, hand feed pump, brake gear, steps, hand-rails and lamp irons, finished in lined Royal Blue livery with vermillion coupling rods, with polished brass beading on the decorative wheel splashers, G.E.R. coat-of-arms on the driving splashers, polished steel ring on the smokebox door, polished copper chimney cap, hand rails, vacuum pipes and couplings, 149cm long, the cab 25cm wide; presented in a glazed brass display case with display track and mahogany base, and accompanied by a series of build photographs demonstrating the high build quality. A unique archive relating to this Italian pilot and sportsman, including a signed portrait photograph in regia Aeronautica uniform; another in V.G.S.B. sportswear; together with a group of personal photographs, a pay-book envelope with salary details,a desk-top silvered bronze medallion-plaque dated 8/9 VII 1922 for sporting achievement; a 1935 Edward Stanford Ltd folding route map of the Dongola and Berber district, including Port Sudan; and Contoli`s personal navigation rule and protractor calculated for the Mercator projection; also an important collection of original signed postcards of athletes, war correspondence, aircraft ephemera and related material, contained in a folio.

MacMonnies, 1894," very good condition Property from a Private Collector, New York, New York Bacchante and Infant Faun is one of the most renowned and controversial sculptures in MacMonnies` oeuvre. It was originally cast in 1893-1894 as a life size bronze and was exhibited in 1894 at the Paris Salon. Following the Salon the sculpture was intended for the courtyard of the Boston Public Library. Bostonians rejected the sculpture due to the subject of a possibly drunk nude woman holding an infant and subsequently the statue entered the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1897. overall in good condition
