A 19th century French brown patinated bronze inkwell, the tapering reservoir boldly cast in alternating tones of high and relief with friezes of frolicking putti, surmounted by female caryatids, domed hinged cover with reserves of beetles and insects, bud finial, spreading circular base cast with fruiting vine, stamped A.D. in the maquette, 12.5cm high, c. 1880 Condition Report: Generally good condition. Some light rubbing to detail, minor surface wear and scratches. Signs of solder to rim. The whole mildly askew, so should be reassembled and tightened.

Signs of polishing. The base with slight incurved dent to verso but standing and displaying well.
