The canvas tension is slightly slack and stretcher bar marks have started to form in the paint layers, following the wooden stretcher bar behind. Overall, the paint layers are in a good, stable condition. The varnish layer is slightly uneven in gloss but clear and even overall. There is a layer of surface dust and fine debris. The frame has been bronze painted while the picture was still in it, resulting in paint spatters across the surface, particularly in the lower right corner.

The medal set of three bronze medals was likely minted soon after 1936, and is in the original hard red case, each medal being about 50 mm in diameter and weighing 66.5g, showing George V at the Silver Jubilee of 1935, Edward VIII and George VI; no medallist identification is apparent. The coins include two £5 coins 1990, a Royal Mint proof set 1977 and an uncirculated set 1953, and the notes comprise a £1 Page series C and a £1 Page series D both about UNC, and two £5 Gill series D and two consecutive £5 Gill series E all about UNC.
