Arnhem & Airborne interest, a selection of items, some named to Major David Allsop who was second in command 1st Airborne Recce Sqn at Arnhem, a cigarette case, named inside & dated 1944, this with Para badge to front, a Pegasus patch and Parachute 3 s/title cut from uniform, ribbon bar, 39-45 & F&G group of four, a Red Beret, this with named label, possibly slightly later, a cigarette ashtray (named). He managed to evade capture at Arnhem. He was also awarded the Dutch Bronze Lion with citation but this not with the grouping. Born 4.8.1917 Died 9.9.1987. mostly GVF

A navy officer's dagger dating: second quarter of the 19th Century provenance: France Curved, single-edged blade, with deep fullers at the back, of triangular section, finely engraved with warriors, trophies and flowers on both sides, a cartouche with remains of the writing "Klingenthal" at the base, on one side, and dated "1831" on the other. Small, gilt, bronze quillon, with quillons engraved with a spiral, smooth ring-nut. Slightly-curved, ebony grip, checkered on almost all the surface. Brass cap with spherical button. Stamps at the lower part. Box-lock mechanic; remains of engravings depicting a trophy on the right side; signed "WHEELER" inside an ellipsis at the left plaque. Back hammer and batterie, both made if iron, with external secure-lock. Curved, smooth, wooden grip. The lower part of the barrel featuring an iron spring bayonet, held by the trigger guard. Tang with remains od engravings. Lock with flat plate and belt borders, decorated with frames, signed "CLAUDE NIQUET A LIEGE" and engraved with a character on a trophy depicting cannons and flags. Hammer and batterie with frames. Pan with spark arrester. Wooden full stock, carved with floral motifs around the tang. Gilt, bronze mounts with bas-relieved decorations. A shield featuring a portrait, surmounted by a crown and held by two figures. Featuring another portrait of a figure on a cannon with flags and swords at the trigger guard. Butt-plate with oval shapes featuring faces, floral motifs, armors and a mask at the center. The counter-plate pierced with two figures on cannons, flags and other objects.
