An impressive Japanese gilt bronze eight-day mantel clock, Meiji period, the 10cm dial with Japanese numerals and hands in the form of stylised dragons, surmounted by a model of a rooster, the shaped base modelled as a rocky outcrop with a hen and two chicks, height 47cm, width 23.5cm, depth 18cm.Provenance: From an excellent private Cornish collection, originating from the 1980s.Condition report: the birds are loose, general wear to the gilt and rubbing. Overpolished. Three screws to back panel missing. The key is present. The clock was working in the vendors house. No damages.
